They have 4 nest boxes available and they all use the ONE she is sitting in.  They act like the other boxes don't exist.  So I pick her and her eggs up and move her to a different one?

That's what I did. Move the eggs first. She will just set there. Give her a couple of the infertile ones as you introduce the fertile ones. Mark them with pencil to remove later. Show her the nest she will probably find it on her own. Let her get on it. Mine did.
If you use marker pen wait for the smell of the pen to leave. I think I put them in to soon and they didn't like the smell. Spread eggs everywhere.

I like the Ameraucanas for strength of bird over Orpington's just one opinion.
Good night

Lavender orpingtons won't have the blue egg gene, use a Lav Ameraucana to get the blue egg gene into your f1 generation.

I think that's what I'll do. Thank you!

For blue eggs you would need Ameraucanas.
You will also need pure black Naked neck that are not hiding any colors or patterns under the black as they may shine through the lavender.
If you use a pure black male you are less likley to introduce color issues as black females hide them better.

Also you will be crossing for a few generations to get dual recessive genes (lavender and blue egg) to breed pure. But that is not many for a "new" chicken color.
BTW a friend of mine had a few bantam lavender nn turn up in his birds a few years ago but did not breed them.

Good luck!!

I'm not looking to start a "new" color, I'm just wanting to do a lavender project bird for fun. Do you know where I could get pure black NN? Thanks!

LOL! I admit that I considered it for a moment. I don't have any hatchery stock though. Why bring it in?
Dheltzel shows up here from time to time.

Thanks!
