Took pics of my garden this morning. I love that okra thrives on neglect.

Here I planted tomatoes, cucumber, green beans, marigolds.

Here I planted okra, squash, carrots, radishes, marigolds, and nasturtiums. The okra made it.

Very nice!

I figured that out after I re-read the instructions, but I bet many people will use 2 tablespoons of the powder instead. What I'd like to know is what is the shelf-life of the stock solution?

Since the pack weighs 453.5 grams and makes 129 gallons (if you read it literally), the per gallon dose is 3.52 grams per gallon. The powder probably weighs about 3 grams per teaspoon, so the per gallon dose is 1.17 teaspoons.

Check my math and let me know if that looks okay.

Your math works out IMO.
I wonder if there's a purpose behind making a solution first and then using part of the solution to dose the daily water.

Staying high and dry?

I do want size especially over the tiny leghorns. Rory has meat on his bones at least.
In that case go with the best size rooster. Legbars aren't that much heavier than leghorns are they? A leghorn cockerel should go 5 or 6 lbs.
My point was primarily that if crossing, color doesn't matter at all.
What color eggs are you getting from your legbar hens?
Have you considered a cross with araucana or ameraucana?

Hi yall this is the second night that my chickens are in their coop
So they are safe out there?

Hi, yes I ran off to ride my horse. It was the first time in the eighties in forever. Then I gave shots to my quarantined goats, did chores, and now I am milking. While it is humid it is a beautiful 75.
Really cool here too - considering it is August. 72 this morning but 95% humidity.

@casportpony Kathy, what is wrong? For the second night one of my pullets layed a pullet sized egg with blood on it.
That's a lot of blood but unless it continues I wouldn't be concerned. Probably a split right inside the cloaca.

If my marriage were intact, I would have a horse for Duckling. A pony is a waste of time. She would outgrow it too soon.
How about a Welsh pony.

I just think that a horse should not be traded from person-to-person. They deserve to have one owner to love them and to love in return.
Good point. Like selling adult parrots.

Did you tried to ride a camel? I can assure you that it is one if the funniest ride you will have!
Haven't had the pleasure. How about an elephant.

Speakin of bators, I've been having a funny problem w/ mine...... I just plain can't get the temp above 98.
barnie.gif

I turned it nearly a whole turn up (slowly, over a few days) but notta, still at 98.... Turned it down in case I was being stoopid..... The temp went down. This is on all three thermometers.

Might the wafer disk be not working?

I have measurement level set a bit high, so I think the eggs are okay, (they feel like they have a 99.5 internal temp) but I like to run higher as last time I had late hatches.
How old is your wafer? Is it a homemade incubator?

not the darkest of eggs, but quality looks
IMHO, if not selecting for egg color, they're not worth having.
A few years ago I bought 3 varieties of Marans eggs that were supposed to be from famous lines of Marans. The eggs weren't dark at all. About the color of JG eggs. I'd rather have Jersey Giants if the eggs aren't going to be dark.

I didn't know they made pens that big.

This clip is for all the hunters out there
That was interesting. Never heard of it before.
From this picture, before I started playing the video, I thought the guy was a rabbi.

Thanks Mike. There's certainly room for improvement. Maybe I can practice on some fall crops now that I have more time.

That should be fun. You're lucky you have a longer growing season than some of us. lol

Super long. It's right around 250 days, according to the almanac. If I'm remembering that correctly. Somewhere between 245 and 280. ;)
