Goodnight, sweetheart, well it's time to go,
Goodnight, sweetheart, well it's time to go,
I hate to leave you, but I really must say,
Goodnight, sweetheart, goodnight.

Well, it's one o'clock in the morning,
And baby, I just can't do right,
Well, I hate to leave you, baby,
I don't mean maybe, because I love you so.

Hi All!

I have a building I use as a 4 way coop.  2 bottom shelves have outdoor access, and 2 top shelves do not.  I recently reorganized and moved all the babies out of the top 2 shelves.  I didn't clean them right away.  It's been about 2 1/2 weeks since I emptied the birds, and as I tried to clean it this morning.I took out the bricks that had been holding the water containers.  The hay and poo that was behind the brick was still a little damp - I had knocked over the water container when I was catching the babies to move them.  I found small, thin, white worms crawling around in the poo.

I spent the day looking at fresh poo - no sign of worms.  The bulk of the babies that I took out of that coop are in the mobile pen I moved over to a friend's house.  I've been keeping an eye on those chicks since I only get over there twice a day - I have seen no signs of worms.  The poo was a little runny the first couple of days, considering the move and the heat wave we've been going through.  But, the last week or so, it's been normal.

So, do I de-worm all the chickens, or do I just add some ACV to the water?  Just because it was in an empty coop, does that mean the chickens are infested?

Thanks!!!

Worms are always found in chicken, we,as chicken owners, need yo keep the LOAD of them low as possible! And that by acting in 2 levels
A. The most important one, is PREVENTING by good management and using ACV, hot peppers, ect ect.
B. When the load become to heavy you need to treat with antihelmintic substance
And I think that if you have seen them by naked eye( assuming they aren't something else ) it is the time to take out the heavy canons!
Wouldn't it be possible, especially with the heat, that the worms found the poo and didnt actually come out of the chicks with the poo, especially if you've not seen any other signs of worms on your chicks? Were they maggots? Flies could have laid eggs in that poo.

It certainly could be maggots, but the basic assumption is that you should know the difference between the two!

Good Mornin' Bubbles

When you get a chance, if it's even possible, could you find out the hatch date of my first batch of chicks this year? I never wrote it down. All I know is that it was prior to 7/2

I'd do it myself, but you probably have an easy way to do it that I'm not aware of.

Thanks

I have a SG that will come and roost every single night on the back porch, and every single night I have to go put her to bed. Once in a great while if something is going on, she gets to stay. I see her getting ready to roost there now..right by our Missy..the Golden. She hangs her head over the edge. I should get a picture of this. Spoiled little thing. I named her Uggums when she was little..soooo Ugly! It stuck, but she got quite cute! And made for a great mom for the first time this yr.
We once adopted a cat that I named Fugly; nicest cat we ever had.

runt..private chat? Haven't ever done that..I am on a desk top, and I come and go quite a bit. That's why I'm not on here that often. I like to pop in..and, well, I feel like I am interrupting at times, but, I post what I have going on that day, or post on a cute post like those NN's! Now, if there is something in particular you need to ask me...pm me! Be more than happy to answer any question that I can.

See, right now, I have to go put Uggums to bed. Maybe I'll take my camera out with me. :p
Don't ever feel like you're interrupting; you know the door's always open in this house.
