From what I remember my attention was on my schoolwork, swimming and horses, not boys, but there were plenty of girls my age that were into boys.. I can still remember standing out in the bike racks after school one day when a bunch of the girls confessed to their exploits. I was quite shocked, and still am, 'cause all I wanted to do was go ride my pony.

I am with you, early on it was horses, horses, horses, and sports. Then I had to add work as I was on my own and struggling to balance work, school, and Track for a college scholarship. I had no time and little in common with boys. Not to mention I could out lift them which intimidated them.

Only one chick hatched from today's due date.  I doubt any more are coming because no pips since this one pipped yesterday morning. I guess I'll have to pull a 2 week old chick in from the coop to give this little tough guy that survived the LG embryo executioner a friend.

So sorry, I know how important these chicks are with your rare birds especially after the predators. Are you doing more?

I had to move my broody last night because she was in my pup sized kennel. In hindsight, I should've just put him in the cat carrier, but he wasn't as big as I anticipated. Anyway, the broody had two eggs with internal pips when I moved her. (I also didn't know it was hatch time until I candled). But she never settled back down. So I put the four cold eggs under a different broody this morning, one who hasn't been setting long. So, we'll see what happens. But I'm not hopeful.

You can laugh and me to now, but I remember my freshman year of college. I used to lift by myself in the afternoon to hide what I lifted till the twit of a baseball player. One afternoon I was benching when a bb guy came in. He glanced my way and visibly did a double take (I was benching 200 pounds finishing my reps). He went over without a word lifted a few reps and left. That evening as I came out of the food line one of the big football guys stood up and yelled across the room can you really bench 200 at which point I seriously wanted to punch someone. I gave up at that point and said, actually I can bench about 225. He sat down without a word. Ego is a killer with young guys.
I never lifted for high weight I just worked for throwing. It would have been interesting to try body building.

I'm not fretting too much.
I have 33 pullets and 19 cockerels since May 30 plus this chick and another 15 eggs due in 2 weeks and setting more tomorrow.
This weekend I'm picking up 3 unrelated pullets and 1 cockerel plus 2 of my roosters that I sold 4 years ago. I have to drive to Iowa to get them.
I'm excited about these unrelated birds. I'm praying their eggs are very dark.

I got 2 unrelated pullets from another friend about 3 years ago. Their eggs weren't dark at all. I still used them for breeding but their offspring never laid dark eggs and one of the hens got cancer and died. It was a waste of time.
Sometimes you just have to work with what you have.
I hope to be able to bring some eggs from Spain in the next year or so.

That is so true. I love the story.
I love when women/girls show up insecure guys.
Back when I shot pool regularly about 30 years ago, there was a woman that was really good. Guys couldn't handle her beating them. I wouldn't play, I just wanted to sit back and watch their reaction. I've seen guys break their cue sticks they got so mad - because a woman beat them. Senseless.
I played at a place called Jaques in the inner city close to my house. The Italian owner sponsored a women's pool league. Everyone there played a game called 'last pocket'. I considered myself pretty good. These young 20 something black women kicked my butt for weeks till they taught me the strategy behind last pocket.

I have asked my nieces too, but I could use some name suggestions for Daisy's calf. The two month old heifer is cream at the moment, but I am unsure about her color later.
