Hey all. Incubating another batch of eggs. These were shipped and some have jiggly or saddle shaped air cells. I have let them rest for 24 hrs. I plan to hatch upright this time, BUT my problem is that my turner is horizontal and I will be away from the incubator for the first 3 days. Turning upright by hand is not an option.

Help me clarify a few things from what I have read….

Do I leave the eggs upright and do not turn the first 3 days? Then lay them down horizontally and let the turner do the work?

Or do I flip a coin and lay them down from the get-go, letting the turner do the work and then put them upright in cartons at Lockdown?

Thanks!!

Yes and no. They make saddles that have an eye on them. It makes the hawk think there is a predator bigger than it.
Interesting. I'll look into that ...
Nets are the best protection against hawks!
As in, a snare, or a top on a fence? [CONTENTEMBED=/t/1046313/incubating-w-friends-come-hatch-learn-chat-meet-new-friends-w-host-sally-sunshine/142550#post_17483541 layout=inline][/CONTENTEMBED]

Plenty of places to hide here  , but there's also lots of other things to eat, so maybe that's why I've never has a problem. I wonder how well those work.
