My father died at work. Social security had been messed up. He'd just gotten it straightened out a few weeks earlier. He had a heart attack when some young guy couldn't handle pulling a pallet. He would have retired a month later.

His death was the best birthday gift ever.

I don't understand the birthday gift statement but -
I know lots of guys that could have retired but stayed for a 'few more years' only to die before those years were over.
I always told people, you don't know how long you have left to live. It could be 1 day or 40 years. But knowing that, do you really want to spend one of those days at work?

I got a hen to go broody in less than two hours she has been setting for almost 4 hours now, it was the trick I used the last time I got a hen to go broody when a hen goes in to lay I stick all of the golf balls in the nest in front of her and then when I come back I collect her egg and she has all of the golf balls under her.

That is exactly my point of view, the majority of us unfortunately have to work to have a decent life, but I work to live, not live to work!
If I had the financial ability not to work, I would be in research in the university, Ph.D seems wonderful, and I surly would travel more!

He was physically and sexually abusive. He was finally caught stealing money from the church, our full address was published in the newspaper. My last two years of high school, I had to keep a low profile. Even the teachers were not above taunting. His death was only sad because he was not mourned.

And you could come visit us.

So you had to wait for it to happen naturally.

Besides the abusiveness, stealing money from church is surely a d+++ move.
Was he alcoholic or gambling addict?

It's horrible when a parent's deeds reflect on a young person.
I don't feel too bad about embarrassing my daughter now. It was no where near that bad.

thats an interesting idea

Our RIR started eating our eggs. :hmm We only have 2 hen's who are laying right now. No clue why she started doing that. I'm guessing she won't stop, but should I separate her out before she teaches the other chickens to do that?
