Thanks for all the help.

Another question: I may have to lock down either a little early or a little late. I'm trying to figure out which is better so I know when to begin incubation.

Is it ok to lock down either on end of Day 17 or early Day 19?

Is end of Day 17 too early to stop turning?

Is early Day 19 a concern because of potential early pips?
If you can keep a very good eye on the eggs you could up humidity with drawdown instead of a set date, which I do, as I am terrible with remember to mark when I set!! see the link and it will show you what to look for with pics too! you can stop turning day 17 not an issue!!!

she delivered the eggs heated? from just down the road or what? she could have had the eggs at a higher temp than you had in the bator, had you also calibrated thermo/hygros? you are certain your temps are spot on? see above post I helped someone else if you need calibration links. as long as each batch is separate you should be ok, if you notice she hatched the other ladies and the hen leaves the nest with the chicks you will have to put them in your bator, not sure you can keep a close enough eye on the broody? So I hope I follow you!

Yes she delivered them heated. She was not too far from me about an hour. She took them from her broody on Friday and put them in her incubator until she delivered them on Sunday. I put them under my broody but this one didn't fit so it is in my incubator with my other eggs (12 are on day 8, 6 are on day 1, and this one pictured below (and its 11 friends under the broody) i am not sure what day it is on.)
Is a week or just over a week long enough for a broody or will she not be happy about having babies so soon? Should I put the day 1 eggs under the hen and take away the started ones?

to answer your question yes i calibrated the Therm and Hygro. Temps are spot on and verified with 4 different therms.

Awesome. If turning isn't an issue, I see no reason to start the hatch sooner and lock down end of day 17...unless I am missing something. At that point higher humidity will be ok, right?

Is there anything I could see at candle on Day 17 that would cause me to need to change plans and wait to lock down?
