I was actually in a car accident when I was riding my horse, which is why my back is all screwed up. The horse got tangled with a dog leash, I was walking next to my grandma down the road, and we stopped so she could untangle the doberman's leash from her legs.

I watched in what felt like slow motion this car back out of it's drive way, across both lines of traffic, off the street, and rammed into us. Knocked us about 5 feet sideways into a bunch of mailboxes. The impact jerked my lower back in a way where it's never been the same, so twisting motions (like getting up into a saddle by swinging) will retweak the same place that got injured.
I have to be really careful with my back now.

The lady's only comment was "I'm so sorry, I didn't see you."

Broad daylight, a big black horse with a rider.... even if she didn't see us (which I doubt, she had a BIG SUV with a warning sensor if she was going to hit something.) why would you back up off the road? The whole situation was surreal when it happened.
thats scary

I could tell you a similar motorcycle story. A friend just said the week before his wife wouldn't ride with him in case of an accident. She didn't want the kids to be orphans.
A 16-year-old was backing out of a hidden drive on the highway. And then across four lanes. She wasn't paying attention, and had the music blaring. She could not hear the Harley, and just didn't seem to care that you can't back out of a hidden drive. The bike skid 75 yards and he flew 100. I read the article about once a month. The teen didn't face any charges.

My neighbor kids I play with growing up, lost their mom to a motorcycle accident... in a parking lot, with a helmet on. They hit a rock and she fell off the bike going like 10mph. She hit her head on the ground in just the right way and it killed her instantly.

Motorcycles terrify me. It also doesn't help that my mom also hit a motorcyclist at a stop sign because she didn't "see" him fast enough when she came around the corner and saw the stop sign. She slammed on her breaks, and luckily for him, she just knocked him over into the ditch with out loss of life....

But, that was enough for me to realize that motorcycles aren't work the risk of life and limb.

HAve you ever talked to your doctor about back surgery or anything? My pap has to go get surgery again on his back because of a ruptured disc. I told him about laser surgery so he would have to get such a big incision and and have to be not lifting stuff for about 3 months or more like the last time.
I don't qualify for any kind of surgery at this point. The muscles got tweaked in a way that damaged them and the nerves, as long as I keep my back muscles and core strong, and am careful how I lift and bend, it's okay. It's just sudden sharp movements that if i'm not bracing my core, will throw out my lower back now. I'm not exactly sure what it damaged, but they said I ribbed fibers in there, and weakened all the muscles in a way that couldn't be fixed, except with being careful and keeping my stomach muscles strong to compensate. (If that makes sense. I was a teenager when I went through PT, and I didn't really listen to what they said... I probably should have paid more attention. haha)

I agree I am a kid myself but I think it's bull that kids can't be corrected there's a difference than correcting your kid than abusing your kid. I had my butt beat when I was younger. But since I grew up in the country side I grew up cutting the grass, takin care of the animals, loading and staking wood.
My 2 younger kids, love being farm kids... but my oldest hates it. he hates the bugs, the grass makes him itch, he hates cleaning up poop, the animals smell, he hates taking care of them, he hates having to weed the garden, water the garden, or fill water buckets.

Whine whine whine.

It's definitely kid-specific. My younger 2 love doing farm chores and being around all the animals. (the baby is too young to know the difference.) But then again, my oldest was a city boy for the first few years of his life, besides riding horses as a toddler.

My oldest is probably going to live in an apartment and have a house keeper. He's anti work. Or a wife who does all the cooking and cleaning while he sits around and plays video games all day, because that's his personality. LOL

I also don't spank my kids... though I have threatened a couple of times. LOL

AND my new incubator is here... score.

So, I have a old fashion thermometer that I was using in my brooder, I wanted to soak it in bleach to clean it for the next week, and double check the temp settings.... bleach shouldn't hurt it, right?
