Half slate/half heritage cross breed. The guy said they tend to be healthier/smaller then the heritage breed, but bigger with more meat than the slates. Or that's been his experience with them. He's been breeding them like this for about 10 years now. We talked on the phone for quite a while. Apparently, he says his chicks come out "red white and blue" which has been a bonus for kids raising them. What breed are you getting?

Of course, I know nothing about turkey's other than the wild-game turkey's survive better than the big heritage breeds. I wanted to make sure the ones he had, could reproduce naturally, I have no desire to artificially inseminate, to breed turkeys.
I tried that with a mastiff once. Never, ever again.

Not off hand. I found him on ebay. ;o I was trying to order a batch of turkey eggs to hatch, but he ran out of them. He had some in his incubator and offered me ducks and turkey chicks instead of eggs.do you have pictures of his birds?

I'm down by the mexican border. We are pretty rural and texas is pretty big. I'd be shocked if your friends were anywhere near me.Where in Texas are you? Let me know and I'll ask my peafowl buddies if they know of some place where you can get some starter.
