our dog this morning. Due to screaming children in the background, sound was removed to save people's ears.
Did a pretty good job of holding on.

Did a pretty good job of holding on.
Star is better at holding on compared to our silkie. Our silkie seems to just slide right off.

Our dog is completely indifferent to her little stow aways. LOL She seems to like the baby chickens okay, but she's a pain when it comes to trying to climb onto furniture. She needs some training to stay off. But hey, at 4 months old, i'm just glad she's mostly potty trained.

With multiple flocks and multiple dominant cockerels do you have to worry about them fighting?
IMHO much depends on breed, line, ages and management.
I've had some breeds of roosters that would attack any other rooster no matter what.
I've raised several flocks of these roosters together. However after they're away from each other and put back together things are different.
Usually each bird knows their place and will defer to the dominant ones. There have been some bloody battles from time to time but I just separate those birds and usually end up butchering one.
My place isn't huge but with most going into their own buildings at night and lots of territory to forage, it is pretty peaceful.

Paddler,

I am extremely happy I got rid of what I had to be honest. Glad the legbar, brahma, wellsumers etc are gone. I did keep the broody brahma that raised the chicks though. I figured she may come in handy now and she is quite the protective mother.

Mikes Icelandics that are growing out are amazing looking, love the looks, the flightiness doesnt bother me, as I dont make friends anyways, and its best for them to be cautious here when free ranging. the polish and serama are the kiddos, I kept the Marans so I had some cool layers. I just wish I could find some good quality like these that also lay a very very dark egg....
It's nice when it gets quieter after clearing out. It's starting to get noisy here.
I embrace the skittishness, wariness. It means they can take care of themselves. Nothing will sneak up on them.
I think the word flightiness is misunderstood. Many people equate that with flying out of pens. Mine will never do that (they might squeeze under). Most of my fences are 3'. I've kept flocks of roosters inside a 2' fence.
I think a lot of people raising Maran's aren't diligent about selecting for egg color and it is quickly lost. In other cases, they don't have enough birds to breed and select properly.

Are you just looking for a dark egg layer? If so Dennis has Welbars that lay dark and lay better then the Marans he had. I will be getting a couple pullets off him around Thanksgiving time.
My welsummers (from Sandhill) laid very nice dark eggs.

no I want BCM the birds I have are amazing and from quality I just think the eggs are too light and speckled is a fault I think although I do love the egg from one hen, they just are not right. but thank you.

You see ever since I had White faced black spanish I am a sucker for a black chicken

White face black Spanish are striking.

Yea I've seen the speckled dark eggs. Very pretty. Since you like black chickens why not go with the Ayam Cemani or Svart Hona?
Sometimes the welly eggs would be speckled but that's just inconsistent application of pigment and doesn't happen all the time unless the hen has a permanent shell gland issue.

lol no thank you, I think chickens SHOULD have RED wattles and RED combs, with that striking black the red sets it off. not a fan of them up there at all.
Black penedesencas have huge red wattles and combs - and white earlobes but with a dark brown egg.

Cockerel and pullets

and the hens have spurs.

oh lord, what does THAT mean? now you have them in yer house?? snakes too if those get in!!!! omg I am gonna die when I come see you!!!
In the tropics, especially the Caribbean, geckos live in houses and hotel rooms and they are welcomed. They usually live behind picture frames, mirrors and similar hiding spots during the day and come out at night to eat bugs. They basically keep the rooms free from creepy crawlies without pesticides.

Porch lizards.

I think they're green anoles, if we're getting technical. They can change colors between green and brown. They're fun.
Likely anoles.

Oh, one last post, I was able to go to the local feed store, that had been closed on sundays and they had a 30% protien poultry "chow" of some non descript brand i'd never heard of... but the contents looked right, and it was for poultry/turkeys.

AND it wasn't expired. :p

So, I'll use that until the turkeys are about 10 weeks and can eat an all flock feed.
Bonus! It pays to shop around.

yes everything thing is ready and I was going to keep them separate to have pure breed.but now everyone on the game says I shouldn't get them
That's good that you're ready to raise and breed them.

Rules are rules for a reason.
If you're talking about the age limit, it is fair because it applies to everyone equally and one of the things in the rules you agreed to when joining BYC.
There are a couple points on age in the following terms of service page.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/terms-of-service
There is more specific information to your situation on the Buy/Sell/Trade portion of the Forum - specifically item #7.

7. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the BST/swaps sections of the site. You can not swap or buy or sell or conduct any transaction in BST or any part of the forum if you are under 18. This includes asking for and taking in free items or animals.

I imagine the primary reason for this is that you cannot legally enter into a contract in the USA before you're 18. Call your congressman.

If you're talking about the need to pay shipping and handling if you win a contest, it was clearly spelled out in the thread's first post and in each contest announcement following.

My Rules:

By playing, you agree to pay a small fee if you win. Fees will be posted for each game, typically $25. Only the winner has to pay. Fees are used to cover postage and packing materials. Playing is free. You must be able to pay via Paypal to ensure speedy shipment of time sensitive hatching eggs.

Need some help. During the day my incubator stays at 55 humidity all the wells are filled but st night it drops to the low 49's. what can I do to keep it stable? Also I have eggs in there that are on day 16 and need to add eggs from my broody they are on day 22. Suggestions on what to do?
Don't obsess over keeping humidity stable. Primarily it needs to be an average over time to allow the proper amount of moisture loss throughout incubation.

Yes I calibrated the hygrometer. It had been at 45 humidity until yesterday. The air cells and weight loss were too high so I upped the humidity. They are 2 BBS and 4 Lavender Ameraucanas. The first set of 12 Lavenders shipping eggs the humidity was at 45-50 for the first 18 days. 5 looks like they developed but only 2 I could see enough to know for sure. Then I put the 5 I thought were good under my broody who had eggs hatching the same time as well. Only one of the Lavenders under the broody hatched.
Care for what you know are good eggs but increase the humidity because you may have hatching imminent. Don't open the incubator if you have pips.

Sally you can fold a piece of Iron like that
hmmmm yes, nice diagram, if I was strong enough or had a vice big enough to hold something to bend like that, and the bend would need tighter towards the bottom to hold them tight.
