Yes how can you forget us!! lol what was keeping you so terrible busy!!

This is seriously harder than having my own babies... way more stressful! tell me it gets better! chick 5 that i helped was well and truly dried out and stuck to the membrane. I took the shell off, but there is still membrane stuck on the chick... what do I do about that? chick is still in the bator.

I started out with 21 eggs... about half were infertile... blaming the silky rooster for that, the plymoth rocks and silver lace wyandottes are the ones that are developed. after i removed infertiles i was left with 11. in a 48 egg incubator.

The first two chicks hatch these are mine the last one of the serama eggs hatched and died so no serama at all left so I posted an IOS ad on craigslist and we'll see if anyone has any or not.

and Buried he two that hatched and died. But out of the 14 eggs only two had made it close to hatching.
oh no!!!!!!

This is my first forum ever! so tell me If i am doing this wrong please. :)

It's day 24 about half way through... if the themometer was reading wrong and my bator was cooler than i thought, can the chicks in the remaining 6 eggs still have the strength to hatch??

It's been a long day... bath and wine have me nice and relaxed and I am going to take advantage of a good night's sleep! Have fun tonight and TRY to behave yourselves while I'm away... I don't want to miss out on all the fun!

Day 16 and my two silkie eggs are upright in little egg carton containers, to get ready for lock down... just 2 more days of turning. They've developed perfectly, and the egg is nice and full. Both air sac's are REALLY off center and saddled, so i'm x-ing my fingers that hatching them up right will make it work.

No idea, Sally. I think temp was low for a few days, that's why there was a blanket on that caused the temp spike. It worked fine all summer and I didn't do anything but clean it.

oh crud! that will do it, did you crank it up a tad?

What is everyone got going this weekend?
Tomorrow I'm helping my coop fairy move her bed back upstairs since she's recovered from hip surgery and can now do stairs again. I hope to finish refurbishing the little green coop (aka the killing fields) to move a flock in there. I want to put down a cement topping mix on the concrete to smooth it out if I can get it clean enough. Sunday the dog is going to the groomer in the city and then the wife and I are going to the Best of Missouri Market at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Foods, produce, arts, crafts, music, etc.. 150+ vendors. http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/Portals/0/Events and Exhibits/BOMM/BOMM_Program_final_Web.pdf
Noooo not again!! that song!!! I am glad the coop fairy is well enough. wow that place looks amazing! I know you will have a good time!!
dumb question, but its an ongoing argument in my home, everyone knows those long white stringy things, aka the chalaza that hold the yolk in place in the egg right? Well..... When you cook with eggs do you use a fork and get them out and trash them? or just dump the eggs in the bowl???
