This town is extremely political. It's very hard for people who've moved here, to get involved in anything and you often get shut out.From what you've been saying, the whole affair sounds more political than anything, which is a shame. One of my kids tried 4H, but didn't stay long...don't know why. Maybe because this area was very farm / livestock oriented, and we had neither at the time. Still plenty of 4H stock at the county fair, and it brings TOP prices. The larger grocery chains are usually good for a couple steers every year. The kids also learn about grooming & showmanship, the prices they get help pay for the follow year's project animal. They have, cattle, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits, chickens (when AI doesn't cause them to be cancelled); just about any livestock category imaginable...big deal around here, along with FFA.
