HEEELLLLPP
You know, this is a forum. You can't just post one word like this and expect knowledge of how to help you.

And this... doesn't help either. There is nothing that will make the chick hatch quicker than you doing other things. The watched pot theory. Same deal. Nothings going to happen with you hovering, so go do chores, clean, go outside and play, go apply for part time jobs, go to a friends house, anything. But you have been told this many, many, many times.

Sweet Sally, I knew that you would 'get it'.

I use those small rubber bands to mark and sex chicks.

there are things we can do to prevent this, do you remember?

@Sally Sunshine Any vet tape should be colored blue so the chickens don't peck it right? or is there a better color to use?
I buy generic at cvs our skin color lol

I got told that a lot.

Yep, something on the wild side.

Ummm. Are you saying you do this with 100# bags? (they don't even offer 100# bags in my area that I know of.) But... if that's the case, then, even though you are working very smart, you're still lifting 100# when you tip that trash can back up. I hadn't considered laying my can down to slide the bag into it. But, I usually double up, so there's still a bag in the can when I add the second bag, so that wouldn't work for me. I use a kid sled in the winter, and when the ground is bare, I use a luggage dolly that I bought for $15 at the Habitat for Humanity Restore. If you folks haven't visited your local Habitat store, please do. Worthy cause, and lots of coop building supplies to be had!!!
I have no choice lg, its that or not get fed, so I do what I have to. The dog food we get is also in 100lb bags and they offer none smaller. I discussed this with them but they say they wont change it. I have a hand truck, but it gets hung up in the ruts or mudd or snow, so the sled works best. And I see no other way to get the feed inthere without lifting it besides bucketing it from back into the can, and I would sooner pop a rivet inside than do that each time

oh well I have my priorities straight anyways.

I just built myself an automatic feeder!! :ya I looked in my shed, and way in the back, i found some PVC.... the feed spillage is from putting the feed in. and this is why i wanted to make one..... that was the only feeder I had so i usually just scattered feed. incredible amount of mess.
Let us know how it works
Alrighty

I'm afraid you're going to continue having feed wasted; the birds will most likely fling the feed out. Next time, use a "Y" fitting at the bottom, with about a 2" extension on the feeding side. That will cause the birds to have to reach further to get to the feed and they can't rake it out & slop it all over the floor. My feed waste is non-existent now.
Yeah, probably. I have some more PVC pipes, and I will be monkeying with it for a while. Lol
Yep, give me some time though, I literally built it 5 min. Ago!!!

Yeah, I hear every word you say, Sally. But... it's the mother hen in me coming out! Us little gals bust our chops getting the big chores done. It's what we do, and the price we pay! I do it too, though not 100# at a time! Though, I'm not above using time and circumstance to my advantage. Last Friday, it was a cold and rainy night. (Don't a lot of stories start this way?) Well, I had 150# of grain in the cab of the truck, cause I used a coupon that was about to expire, and didn't have it unloaded yet cause... it was a cold and rainy night. Well, GS wanted me to take him to a dance. He trots out to the truck and finds that grain sitting there. He trots back inside to complain to me... I told him it would have to be unloaded before we could go. Before I can even back the truck up to the garage, he's lugged the first bag INTO the house! So, I opened the garage door, and he lugged the remaining 2 bags into the garage, and set them in my waiting cans. HMMMM... me thinks that I'll just have to be picking up my grain when he wants to go somewhere!

NO

@bubbles12345
If you didn't glue the joints together, which you didn't if you built it in 5 minutes, you can pick up a "Y" fitting @ Lowes, insert the upright tube in one side, & fill it from the top. If it takes you more than a couple minutes you're slower than molasses running uphill on a cold day

'Course I didn't glue it! I know I'm gonna have to make adjustments.
I'll look for those parts then. :)
Really, I literally just picked 2 parts up and shoved em together, lotsa room for improvement.
