Uuggh, my hands are hard to catch but so far I've been able to leave them alone. When the eggs were set it was mid-day so I'm not really expecting any major events until later this evening. Do you think one day early (day 17) on measuring the last air cell they could have made up the needed loss? Or should I drop the humidity a bit more to slow them down?

Update, day two starts about 6 tonight technically. I had a temp spike overnight, up to 105 but I got it cooled back down and I think everything is o.k. turner is working, eggs seem fine.

I would love to know how to add water to a bator with an auto turner, you know so it doesn't spill?

Have any more joined the 22?

26! And that is all of the hatch. Wow. What am I going to do with all of these chicks? Well, I've already advertised on my state thread. I have a couple of friends that want some too. I will probably only keep 8 of them..I want to keep them all! I love the colors..will get a photo later. Oh, my..goodness.

Try a sponge; it don't take much to make a difference. You can add water to it through a vent hole if you position it right, with a turkey baster or syringe.

Cynthia12 invited me over to this tread. I'm pretty new to chickens. This will be only my second time incubating. I was going to wait until spring when hopefully my quail or Cream Legbars are laying but I won 12 Bielefelder eggs on eBay today. So I'm going to try this hatching thing again. I do have a small brooder coop and run. And also a Barn so hopefully I can keep the chicks that hatch warm through the cold months. I've chosen Cream Legars and Bielefelders to breed. I like the idea of auto sexing at birth. But I'm still pretty new so I may change my mind later.

Hi!

Glad you made it here!

Now, you know you don't want to change your mind on hatching. You know you need those sexable babies! You know you need those beautiful big blue eggs come spring. You just know it! Now you know that we don't enable each other on BYC. Never! Ever!

Saw your photo..and have to say, those air sacs look good to me.

Leave your humidity where it is..until lock down..you're good!

Oh, and like Blarney said, let us see a pip when it happens!

I have been using a bendy straw to add my additional water since I'm in lock down. You could add a wash cloth and drip water on it as need.

I'd let them get up to temperature in the incubator, give them a couple of hours, then candle them.
I candled them yesterday (they've been in the bator 2 days now) and I can see the chick/shadow and veins. Maybe movement in one, hard to tell. They other I don't think I saw movement but the chick and veins are there. I just don't want explodeing eggs in my new incubator!

I've been sticking a straw down through the vent hole so it goes below the turner and a child's medicine syringe stuck in the other end of the straw to add water in small amounts.
