Why wait for Spring? If I lived where you do, I'd be out there 7 days a week & twice on Sunday, 'specially if it never froze over. Don't believe I'd trust Mississippi ice to hold me, though.

Just have too much else going on most of the time. My wife loves to fish, and her son (my step-son) came here a couple of months ago and caught a 6 lb largemouth from this pond, so I really should take some time to go fishing with them.

And no... NEVER trust MS ice!!! I've seen it freeze once in my some-odd decades here, and it was barely strong enough to hold me. When I heard it popping and cracking, I got the heck off of it!!!

air cells do shift! yep just before pipping is called drawdown, this is when they tuck and pip into the air cell, sometimes you can see in the high part inside the back they pop up inside as well! good sign!!!
