He just went back on the road. He was in town for about a week. No "Merry Christmas" or acknowledging my presence at all. He stayed at his mother's and flirted with his 24-year-old cousin (as he is going on 59 in a month, and I have several more years before I hit 40!). I guess beating your wife until she loses the baby, and doing what he did to Duckling made him jittery about being around me.
