INCUBATING w/FRIENDS!

A place to Hatch, Learn, Chat,
& Meet new Friends!

When I came back to BYC after an illness I wasnt quite sure where to go, I wasnt sure where all my friends were hanging out or even where to look for everyone! It was then I decided to start the Halloween hatchalong. It was a very fun time! I found quite a few of my friends, but certainly not all of them! As the Halloween HAL closed I wanted a place for everyone to go to continue to get the support they need and for the friends to keep gathering. FEEL FREE to Invite anyone you wish, even if they just want to learn about incubation chat and support each other.

So Welcome to our thread,

The thread of FRIENDS!

WE SERIOUSLY INVITE SEASONED HATCHERS
TO HELP OUT NEW HATCHERS, PLEASE PLEASE JOIN US,
whether you are incubating at this time or not.

Your new bator is doing great Sally!!!!! Thank you for sharing all the links. Wow, do I ever have a way of popping back in at the right time!!! :D

Ty. Krista is taking it hard. She gets attached to them. I try to tell her to not hold them and name them. She is hard headed though.
All my chickens have names
CW11
CB1
CB2
CB6
HW42
HO42
HO45
HB26
HB36
HG4
HY47
and so on

C and H are for Cock and Hen
W, B, O, Y, G are leg band colors for the years they hatched
I use the same color code as for marking queen bees except I substitute orange for red. Orange is easier to read

the number is the order in which they came out of the hatcher

That makes it easier to eat them than if their names were George and Fluffy.

Does anyone have any cool crosses that the roo/hen was either a BCM or a SLW that looks cool and/or lay well? Now that I have figured out how my incubator works, it is time to test it out with some eggs. But i don't know where to start with the cross breeds that i want to try and hatch out. I want something that looks cool and/or lays really well. If anyone has any crosses with any of these breeds, please let me know so that i can try them out. Thanks!
When I get crosses, they are often surprising colors. All my crosses have been with a Black Penedesenca cock over Jaerhon, White Minorca or Splash Ameraucana. All have been striking colors.

Good night.
I will handle second shift

CULL IT!!!!

Awesome as usual. Except the floods took all my chickens except 7. Its kind of a bummer. But I did have a full propane tank and most of a grill wash up on my porch....so Im cool with it I guess
