Well, my coop was pretty crowded. And not enough nests. So I added boxes and sold a few, and got two eggs the two days before we left. Then I lost my roo, sold off his hens from out of state, and crossed my fingers.

My chicken sitter switched them layer crumbles to pellets, and gave them scratch grains. She has a whole farm, and clearly knows the keys to success.

My pullets were Easter hatchlings and I was rattling the gumbo pot at them twice a day.
