I don't know about that, but we told him he was eating rabbit at supper one night. When he'd finished his 2nd helping, we confessed & told him he was actually eating chicken! Never saw the man more ticked off

Hey Jenny.  I'd leave the gal alone.  But, I got a ? for you.  Is she in the coop with the rest of the flock?  You might want to be sure the rest of the flock can't harass the chicks when she does take them off the nest.  Also, be sure there's no open water that they can fall into.  You'll basically have to check out the coop, or the area where they are, and ask yourself the following question:  Is there anything in this environment that the chick can use to commit suicide with?  Cause, basically, they come out of the egg, looking for ways to kill themselves!  If you can keep a close eye on the situation, you should be able to check the nest when she comes off, and perhaps rescue any egglets that are viable that she might leave behind.



I believe that you slaughter it with a sharp butter knife.  

I have to keep an eye on my bator around day 7, day 14, and at lock down.  Need to inch the thermostat back due to increased metabolism = increased heat.  

Those eggs wouldn't be dirty if the coop and nest box were kept clean!  Amazing how folks are so isolated from the food chain these days.  I work with a gal who has 2 kids to raise.  She hates to cook meat, because she doesn't like the way it looks.  Went postal a while ago b/c she spilled some "chicken juice" on the floor, and didn't have anything in the house strong enough to "sterilize the floor".  

that's why I have a dog it isn't sterile till the dog has licked the same spot on the floor for twenty minutes lol
