yall are probably annoyin the crap out of her(probably never been milked or is sore), throw both of them babies back in there and spy on them, you might be surprised. but sometimes moms just abandon weaker ones and you probably will have to go get some powdered colostrum and electrolytes. newborns cant go long without nutrients

I use the large heated pet bowls and a box heater idea I came up with.
Wooden box, with full bottom, cut out top to fit two dollar store dish pans into it, and mounted two 60 watt light bulbs inside the box, between the dish pans.
The box retains the heat from the bulbs, the pans are thin enough to allow the heat to transfer to the water, and the light glows just enough to see what I am doing in the coop after dark.
Easy to build, and safe & cheap to operateI will get photos later this week and send them to you if you like. Might be something that would work for you.

:thumbsup

Great.

You could maybe get rid of endcaps, and do elbows, 45's?
Give ya two more holes
Hope ya didn't glue it
Nothing glued... just hammered together like crazy. Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think there will be enough flowout to do elbows on the ends. I had to give it a good shake just to fill the small amount of pipe that's already there. My only option at this point is bore a couple more holes in the T's, or either a full-length slot. Probably go with the latter if I have to make modifications.

Nah...left too much of my heart in pieces there. I loved the place but I can't go back anytime soon, maybe ever. China is my sad and bitter sweetness.
Aww... I'm sorry veny, I had no idea. Hope I didn't make you sad with that comment.

Double elbows

Lower than 35-40%? Gotta be honest, I don't know jack, so any advice is welcome. The Janoel was hard to regulate, bu I guess it was 45-50% most of the time, which was clearly to high given the amount of water in the deceased eggs. 28 day ducks did fine.

for the first week at least! Fresh eggs i would def keep it 25-30,

weight loss is important at the start of incubation because by days 12-14, the albumen should be transported from the albumen sac through the seroamniotic duct into the amnion, and you dont want to form a body under the cam of fluids only to have it turn into jelly. by day 17 all the albumen should have been consumed by the embryo, and the embryos have better access to the yolks nutrients by turning them more often too those first 10 days as you already know.

that is just a more indepth look on my thought process and why lower incubation for these breeds that dont loose weight and drown or cant pip

I seen someone stick lightbulbs in a cinderblock, and put the waterer on top

I tried the cinder block idea. Too much heat loss through the brick.
When I designed the box originally, I had planned to insulate the inside. Then we got some cold weather and I thought, what the hey, I will test it without.
I put it on the drive outside the garage, filled the pans and plugged it in.
It got down to -5 that night, and no ice in the morning!
It is sheltered in the coop now, and has stayed ice free with some over night lows in the -15 range!
May have to insulate box if it gets any colder, but so far so good!
