What about the flap of skin on the top part of his head? It is laying down in the picture but I can pick it up and see his muscles, or whatever is under there :)

I could see my roosters skull when he was scalped. They really can heal very well. As far as health issues go, they probably bounce back from injuries better than any illness with the least bit of intervention...
 
Thanks everyone, I'm starting to clam down about it. He still drinks and eats and it doesn't seem to bother him when I clean it so that's good.

all I've ever done is Isolated for a few days until healing has really started cleaning it and applying a strong er infused garlic in olive oil, if it heals by itself as long as you keep it cleaned out less likely to get an infection that could go systematic real fast on something that small.

Still haven't been able to catch the rooster that needs tending to his comb, we only get to see him from a distance but it is starting to heal on it's own without any intervention as he won't allow it.
