I'm a person that believes unless there is a problem, do nothing. Chickens like my goats, if you worm them for nothing the parasites start getting immuned to the wormer. I havent wormed mine since i started them back up here in TN. Been over a year.
I'm the same way. I would never take antibiotics on the premise that I might get sick...

Just checked out your RIR picture from June. Nice! Are those some of Matt's birds?

Since I joined , I was intrigued matter of building an incubator . Today I finished it and now he's calibration !

I need to "dance" between 3 , thermometers, the one of the thermostat that indicate 39C* a digital thermo. That indicate 40.2C and an alcohol thermo. That indicate 37C! So I need to make some adjustments!

I dont deworm unless there is a problem, it killes their gut flora. I noticed after I wormed them they were a little less healthy for a long time...

Wow that's fantastic production!
Even from my sexlinks, I usually only get 4 from 5 layers.... What am I doing wrong???

The other 4 are EE.
You should always give your birds probiotics after worming to replace beneficial bacteria.

If you got 6 eggs from 5 layers, you'd be doing better than most people!!!

If a bird has worms, won't feathers lose their gloss, like a dog's coat will look dull?
Kind of thinking the same thing...

I  just figured you'd see them in the feces.    Correct me anyone??

You can with some types, but others (like gapeworm) will live in the chicken's trachea and slowly strangle them. Others are microscopic, but yes, you can see some kinds of worms.

You built an incubator, Benny? As Sally would say... it doesn't count without pictures... or... pics or it didn't happen!!! (or something like that)
