Thank you very much! I suppose I should figure out where to buy the syringe....must have that before I can even attempt any help. I will try something this weekend.

On another note...My 12/26 eggs I candled last night. 1 quitter, so 9 going into lock down Monday. Will candle my (24) 1/1 eggs tomorrow. I'm still struggling to know what I'm seeing in the early stages. I think I need a stronger light.

People always say, "Oh i need a large fowl to protect the flock" then they tell me they have a covered run and normally keep them in the coop...

HAHAHA! Uncovered almost-freerange run and got a real mean Ancona hen to handle things. She thinks she's a roo and she's meaner than any large-fowl I've ever met (outside of geese).

My Father-in-law is on his way with the Phoenix eggs! I will unbox and take pics!
WOOHOO! Luck to you!

Sorry Sally, I thought I had yesterday off work but nope, I have today off instead. Oh well. So had a bit of an emergency this morning. Discovered my husband didn't count heads when putting the large chickens to bed and I discovered Monster, my first batch BCM cockerel roosting in the snowbank by the coop :( His poor feet were ice cold. I soaked them in cooler than body temp epsom salt water, and have him in the baby crate :(

I just went out there and checked, he's now standing up when he wasn't an hour ago. But i can't tell how much damage there will be for his feet. Now on to the babies!!

I love this kid. S/he's got that patch of dark feathers on the top that is growing in straight up. This was one of the cream colored babies at hatch.

And then this one... whose fuzz started sticking up after a week. This one is a darker black than the other hatchmate.

Now for the non tufties:

The non tufty black one.

The other non tufty cream at hatch baby

And the blue/lavender? baby didn't want to sit still for good pics in my hand. She's the one that had curled toes at hatch. They are much better after the booties that only stayed on a few hours, but still has 1 toe on each foot that aren't entirely straight.

Ahhh! Such cuties. My boss has a hatch (not sure of the breed but they're all white or black) and we always hear peeps coming from the shed when we cart the pallets out.
