Perhaps someone can explain this better than I can... All the various drugs will only treat bacteria that are sensitive to that drug. If what you bird has is mycoplasma, probably best to use Tylan, but if it has E.coli, probably best to use Baytril (enrofloxacin). here is a picture that shows what I mean. -Kathy

Gram Negative treatments are ineffective against Gram Positive pathogens, and vice versa. You have to know exactly what you're treating for to have a successful recovery... unless you just get lucky.
 
I love my veterinary books. One of my faves is the AAAP (American Association of Avian Pathologists) Avian Disease Manual.

better get it done before I finish the second tumbler. might give me a reason to celebrate with a third!
