My two week old chicks are such turds!!! I play with them everyday and yet they hate being held. Whenever I walk in the room they scream and huddle in the corner. When I hold them they scream. Why don't they like people?

Mine are like that too... 3 months old now (and love playing around me as I work in the coop, but still not touch friendly), and 1 month old (handled daily, treat in hand, same thing) and my littlest onesie hatch LOVES people. will run to you when you walk by the brooder, run into your hand if you put it in. Don't know why the difference. There just is.

Tried bribing them with feed in your hand?

Yeah, even with food/treats with mine, they couldn't care less for me lol

OMG,EVERYONE,SALLY SUNSHINE,I JUST CAME BACK IN MY ROOM 32 minutes later, and I hear peeping really loud except I do not see an external PIP.

I just have to do this!!

Got 6 eggs from my 6 comet girls this morning. Man I love those girls. Some of those will go in the bator Tuesday with the duck eggs.

I do too! I love love the Comets, Red Sex links.. laying machines, and such a sweet bird..most of them. I always have one or two in my small flock. I have a young pullet growing out now, should start laying, as early as next month, maybe first of Jan. She is already eating out of my hand.

I just heard atlleast three different pipping sounds just now

You are lucky that you are hearing them! That is the most fun when they start making noises in there..it helps knowing that they are hard at work. This time around, my chick were so quiet! It was weird. They finally started chirping just hrs. before they hatched, and...usually when they zip, they will talk up a storm, then most will rest a bit, then talk up a storm while zipping. These guys were soooo quiet. But, as usual, once they hatch, they start yelling for mama. Even then, the didn't do that for long. Very quiet chicks. Would be great if I get a little rooster that is quiet when it comes to crowing..maybe I could keep him. Can't keep a noisy rooster here...

Eh. Dozer is having more breakthrough seizures and I just don't know what to do anymore. We could change up his medicine, but from his last bloodwork his liver isn't having too good a time of the current... And all the medicine will cause liver/kidney issues. So my husband stayed up with him so I could get 4 hours of sleep (happened right after I went to bed at 1 am). And I think I'm passing kidney stones because since we moved in with the in-laws i haven't drank much water other than when i'm at work because their water tastes icky. So i'm hurting pretty good this morning. Life just can't let up sometimes, can it?

So sorry. :/ Stress sure can do a lot to the body too..start drinking that water, and SALLY? Lemon? Really? I usually go with the cranberry pills. I have interstitial cystitis, and boy, that can act up, so I have anti bio tics for it when I am in an active case of infection. Of course, stones are different. Deal with those with my son with spina bifida. Cranberry pills, and anti-bio tics when he is dealing with them.
Take care fire!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE

REMEMBER

DON'T PICK THE PIPS

A PIP is not a ZIP!!!

I posted that timeline of a silkie hatching for a reason!

if it pips externally 99% of the time it will get out on its own!
