Had a roo with the same temperament. Could not go into cage with out a piece of pvc pipe he'd attack I'd whack. He'd lay down and be nice I would feed then leave. Next feeding same procedure this went on till I got some chicks from him as I did like him. His offspring Roos would let me pet them. Oh and the one time he spurred me on the back I also squeezed his neck till eyes rolled. Probably should have done him in after the first attack.
Mine tried that a few times, but he was sneaky about it; til I saw him just in time once & drop kicked his butt about 3' through the air...no more problem...gives me plenty of room now
