I hope you were careful and not get your oral thermometers mixed up with the chicken's rectal thermometers. Just saying...I tried it once with a rectal thermometer and got several different results in just a matter of minutes (102-105), so I called UC Davis and asked them how to take the temp of a bird and they told me that rectal temps are unreliable, but didn't offer any alternatives. Figured I'd try to see if I could get more reliable results under the wing.

You're probably going to get more stable readings checking under the wings, which should be closer to internal temps as long as the wings have been folded for awhile.![]()
