I certainly would think so! I wondered how many of the middle-aged members would know what it meant since LAN's were popular for gaming a decade (or so) ago. WLAN's revolutionized the world of inter-connected PC's, especially for gamers. Those days seem like they were eons ago, and things have constantly evolved. Can you imagine trying to go back and catch up on technology? It would basically mean starting all over...After 21 years as an IBM computer operator, I'd better know what LAN stands for.
Good morning, Jack!
I did have to start all over when PC's came along. They didn't exist when I started in '66. Totally different OS on the PC than the big mainframes I was used to. The 1st "PC"I ever ran was actually a MAC, which in those days was very different from the IBM's and knockoffs.I certainly would think so! I have a lot of admiration for you guys that were able to pull all that off. I'm soooooo glad DOS is a thing of the past! The first couple of gens of Windows contained DOS, and trying to recover a file may as well have been written in Greek... which is what it felt like I was trying to type. Even something as simple as chkdsk made me run to my notes...I did have to start all over when PC's came along. They didn't exist when I started in '66. Never mastered DOS. If I lost a file I either lived with it or recreated it. I still screw things up & have to get my DIL to bail me out.I have a lot of admiration for you guys that were able to pull all that off. I'm soooooo glad DOS is a thing of the past!
