Yup, it seems like they get offended. My issue is, no matter what the contents are, the packages should be handled properly.

Exactly. It is their job and therefore their obligation to do it properly. This is why I am having a debate with myself about whether to get day old Bielefelder chicks or eggs, for the boys I just got. Need to more research to see if anyone else in the area is breeding.

Howdy on back from my trip.
I popped in occasionally to check what was going on.
Drive back last night sucked...took me three hours to get the first 77 , miles. After that was okay till the last 50. White out conditions. I don't mind driving on it too much if it wasn't for all the others that do.

Sorry it was such a tough drive, but I'm glad you made it back safely!!!

It's just a mutt pigeon. Another question, do you keep them in a brooder? If so, at what temp?

I have kept them several ways. Under a heat lamp, on a heating pad, or in the parrot brooder. I get cold very easily and tend to baby everything with too much warmth if anything, but I would keep them between 85-90 for the first week. But since they don't run around, I prefer using a heating pad under the brooder and up one side where they can snuggle against it or move away a bit if they want. A stuffed animal helps.
The babies I have right now are being taken care of outside by their parents.

So 95 is probably too warm?

If you lower the temp and it starts making a fuss, inch it back up.

Probably. The different breeds like different temps, but yours is probably at the tougher end of the spectrum and doesn't need so much. You can watch their coloring too. If they get too pink or too white... They don't show the same signs of discomfort as chicken chicks. As long as he is the "right" color and is active, eating and digesting well, he will be fine.

I'm waiting for some "gifted" eggs to arrive at the PO from FL. Not much hope for them...They were mailed at a really bad time, Friday. So it has taken this long in transit because of no delivery on Sunday or MLK day.....
