ALSO, THE USPS RARELY Scans THESE PRIORITY MAIL PACKAGES!! Heck they rarely scan EXPRESS!! SO YOU WILL HAVE NO CLUE WHERE THE EGGS ARE UNTIL 8 or so hours after they get to a place!!

CH please dont start this, I cant go tell them what to do with your eggs. Your gonna drive yourself and me batty in the next few days if you start now!  DONT even look until Thursday afternoon!  Our truck only leaves the post office at 430-5 pm....  Its not a big town, I am not near any large towns!  So you will have to have patience and stop checking on them, or just dont post about them!

One thing you cant do is keep fretting about something you have no control over!!!!!

Fill your time up with something constructive that can help educate yourself or benefit someone else!
o I wasn't I was just saying its fine no bigot they will get here when they get here

hygrometer calibration Benny's method
1. You calibrate 2 simple alcohol thermometers see pic.
1000

2 you should build an home made hygrometer see pic! It is very easy!
1000

3. You should have the digital hygrometer that you want to calibrate.
M.O
A.Set you incubator to 30C with a measuring cup with a known volume of distilled water put inside the home made hygrometer and the digital hygrometer and measure the humidity in boat devices( how to measure in the home made hygrometer, see the attache in the end!) write the reeding of the humidity level
In boat devices.
Do the same another 3 times but change the temp in the bator to: 35C,40C and 45C. So after you do that you will have 4 humidity level measured by the home made hygrometer and 4 humidity level measured by the digital hygrometer.
B. After you have all the readings you should calculate the delta( difference) between the 2 reedings
For example :
If in 30C the home made hygrometer showed 53% and the digital showed 51%
The difference is
53%-51%=(+)2%
You should do this with all the different temp. That you measured.
C.you should sum all the differences that you calculated
For example:
If the deltas were: 2%,3.4%(-2%),3%
The sum will be: 2+3.4-2+3=6.4
D,you should calculate the average difference:
(6.4)%:4= (+)1.6%
That Menes that you should add to your digital readings 1.6% humidity.
If the calculated average is negative ( has a minus in front of it) you should reduce
The number from your digital hygrometer readings!
How to measure with home made hygrometer:
You should reed the temp of the dry thermometer, and the one of the wet thermometer, calculate the difference( dry-wet) and use the table in the link!

Day 17 on 36 eggs... Started with 41, removed 4 on day 8 due to infertility, removed one a couple days ago.. quitter... A bit surprised, I set these and then got really busy, got them set in my bathroom where we can control the ambient temperature better ( we have wood heat only) I have only candled twice and just check the temp when I go in to do my business. Dry incubation, I dont even keep track of that, But decided to check a few this morning and all looks great... Will be interesting to see what the hatch rate is on this set. I incubated ALOT last year and was having 100% hatch rates.. These chicks are all spoken for with customers.. might have to reset again when this hatch is over

Good luck!! I hope you continue to have a perfect hatch rate. What are you hatching?

Once their eyes open it's easier for me to judge how lethargic they are, but at 24 hours, it's hard! Novice I am, have only had a few this young. I've searched the web and haven't found much on hand raising them.

They are pretty resilient. The hardest part is the method of feeding and that they are bottomless pits. You'll do fine.
