If you're asking what temp to set a still air incubator at, I want to say 99-100, but don't take that to the bank...better check w/someone better qualified than I, like Sally, for instance.
I do know that you need to monitor the temp at the top of the egg, in case there are cold spots in your incubator.

okay well I am keeping the thermometer on top at 96 to 102 course I am waiting on a new thermostat control is the temp to high or low

what day are you  on again? and are these calibrated? leave the vents open dont use them to control humidity
what bator is this?

if not calibrated see the hatching 101 article humidity section for the links on how to calibrate

how are your air cells looking? you need a higher humidity than that?

Sorry, I'm just setting it up and checking for accuracy. It's a Brinsea 20 octagon advance, forced air, with egg turner. I don't have the optional humidity pump.
The hygrometer I set inside is calibrated. I'm not sure about the brinsea's thermometer/hygrometer. This is my first time using it.

I'm going to set quail eggs. I thought the humidity needed to be in the 40's. I could easily be wrong about that.

Okay, how do I raise humidity in my incubator? I've had it running since yesterday, and filled the 2 wells, but it's staying at 30-some-odd %.

ETA: I had the vent hole completely open. I closed this to a slit.

Looks like a Brinsea control screen. Is it the 20 or 40? They are hard to keep humidity up without the add-on pump. Do you not have the pump? If not, you can add a piece of cloth, or paper towel, draped through the wells, let it extend further out across the bottom of the incubator, and they will wick water out of the wells to add more surface area to increase humidity.

I posted about the same time you did. I believe I've read that 40 is fine for quail, but to get it up during lockdown, see my previous post.

And good luck!!

Darn. I was going to get the pump, but sweet husband had sticker shock over the unit without adding that, so I opted to wait. I should have just bought it.

I'll add paper towels and see if that works. Thanks!!

no they probably will need it as they are small and thin shelled. I am hoping someone with experience with this bator can help. I am not sure of it without that pump. wondering if you can rig a soda bottle with aquarium tubing or something? but you said all the channels are full, you may have to add cups with sponges?
