You know whats funny , is here in Zephyrhills there is a egg factory ( yea i call it the egg factory) lol i used to live by it the odors and noises i heard come from that building was horrible , they have these long rectangular windows they would pull the blinds up duting the day and you could see chickens in a roll in cages in there i felt so bad for them , i seen the eggland best eggs truck pull up to it so they can load up the eggs , im so glad my chickens dont live like that , but its sad to see those ones like that

Hehehe! That's when you have parents that are willing to sponsor your obsession as long as they get eggs and meat. Also we sell our eggs too so that helps deviate the cost and gives an excuse for you to, guess what, get more chickens!!

I rarely wear shoes, so dont go duckin too much and waste that energy. I would at least pick up a thermo/hygro at the store when you go just to double check it. YES the air cells tell you what they need! you are quite intelligent, how old were the eggs at set? they shouldnt have very big air cells at all.

Will do - I will double check temp and humidity tomorrow. Eggs collected between 1/13/16 (only one of those, day of dog attack), thorough 1/20/16 (three!), and set on 1/20 at 2PM, so mostly quite fresh. If the humidity needs to come down, ambient humidity is running about 35-40% right now, so that would actually be more feasible/easier than trying to get it down in the presence of high ambient humidity. I have no idea what sort of fertility to expect, so I may get nothing. I'm just hoping...

I also didn't realize/remember until after the fact that the girls were on Rooster Booster for a short period before collecting (again, this was unplanned, and I forgot). Argh!

So, having already committed, I researched as much as I could. (Read your wormer info, but hygromycin wasn't included specifically re: birth defects.) Not a lot of info out there in the MSDSs for hygromycin specifically, but as Hygromycin B is derived from a naturally occurring aminoglycoside (derived from a soil bacteria, a streptomycete), while there is evidence of possible risk to the fetus based on info in human pregnant women, it is primarily ototoxicity (hearing damage to the fetus), which is dose dependent (mostly related to high doses) and is the same risk any patient runs when taking a drug of this class. (I know some of this from my own medical training). So I decided to proceed with the hatch, and will watch/check the chicks for hearing damage, in addition to any other unexpected defects. It is my hope that the exposure was so slight that it will not be an issue, but I can be a worrier. I will report back so that you can add that as a data point in your wormer info, if you like.

Glad I won't have to dodge any shoes (yet!) I'm sure the shipped eggs will be more of task to fret over, of course.
