My fishing buddy caught this today...through the ice on Lake Superior.
Very nice. I wonder where you would put the redneck tattoo' for a fish like that?

Who here is building a cooler bator? And if so who would be interested in buying a custom 3D printed turning rack for it? What would you be willing to pay for it? My FIL has a 3D printer and is curious if there is interest in that kind of thing?
I'm redoing my racks for a cabinet but I need 4 or 5 racks with a single turning apparatus.
Would that be possible?

@casportpony
I finally got the necropsy results from the rooster that dropped dead.
He had a heart attack. He had an enlarged heart. Congested lungs and liver due to the heart condition.
More accurately, the heart damage increases the chances of malfunction of the coordinated electrical conduction in the heart leading to catastrophic arrhythmia.
The cause of the heart condition couldn't be found. This type of condition occurs sporadically in poultry species.
He was very thin with no fat under the skin or in the body cavity.

Brain, trachea, crop, kidneys, pancreas, intestines, sciatic nerve and skeletal muscle were all good.
Mycoplasma synovia was detected in the PCR assay.
All other pathogens in the PCR and bacteriology were negative.
Interesting that this bird was pushing 4 years old. He completely free ranged for over the first year and has been in a large pen since then with near daily free range opportunities. I've never wormed him (or 98% if my other birds for that matter) but few helminth ova were present.
Sorry you lost him, but glad it was this and nothing else.

Good Morning!!
Cleaned brooders this morning, I *must* move some of these chicks out. I have 3 customers coming this evening and several more over the weekend -- but, there are 138 eggs in lockdown now to hatch Fri/Sat.

The newly built incubator is working well, at the top, but the heat isn't making it all the way to the bottom. So, I added another heating element in the bottom, then it died after a few days, so I got a really sweet dual control thermostat (HerpStat 2) and hooked it up. It's sensors are saying the bottom is hotter than the top. Everytime I try a different thermometer in there I get a different result

The one I trust the most is a digital baby thermometer, but it doesn't give continuous readings that I can check frequently, you have to push a button to get it to work. Last year I bought a Brinsea Spot Check - hate it! It sits in the drawer unused.

This always reminds me of the old adage "the man with one clock knows what time it is, the man with 2 clocks is never quite sure"

If you could only have 1 thermometer, which one would you get?
