Number 8 is out, though I probably should have left it alone for a few more hours.

So out of 17 fertile, 8 are alive. Of those 8, 6 were malpo'd.

Oh yeah, drives me crazy.

Thats probably a short drive.

Good evening everyone!
I made it back.
What did I miss?
Bennybator has 100% success so far except possible low humidity
Kathy has to do some surgery on her duck
Whites, Mike, and Chaos comparing notes on incontinence
Sally's hatcher is getting pretty crowded
CH is still not listening or understanding good advice
Yokel is still traumatized from repairing appliances at a nudist colony
:gig

There's the start of your recap Bubbles, you put a much better spin on things than I do, but it was fun (as well as difficult to keep family friendly) ;)

Congrats Benny on you creation working so well :celebrate
And Sally congrats on the hatch, but then again you are the leader of hatchaholics anonymous.
:hugs

I thought we were comparing notes on incompotence not incontinence?

It annoys me that I cant open an image from something quoted....  wonder why we cant!! annoying to have to go back after you multi quoted
:hugs Sally

Hi everyone! I watched the video of the impacted crop surgery....gross is an understatement. It looked like hay/straw she was pulling out. I have always used wood chips in with my baby chicks, but when I move them outside, I just started to use straw. I have now read that impacted crop is somewhat common with straw. Should i not use it with the 8 -12 week ones? What does everyone here use?

dont use straw
Liquid skin would not cover the color though, right?
no but blue coat let it dry then do it? idk just suggestions

I am not at all caught up with this thread - but I did do day 10 candling tonight. Air cells are growing. My hygrometer has not come in... I need to track it down. My humidity has still dropped - but maybe not enough for dark eggs...

Welsummer - day 10

BCM day 10

BCM day 10 - the video did not turn out at all - beautiful to watch dancing.

Easter egger @ day 10 - less vessels compared to day 7 as the chick grows.

BCM - ? Early quitter? I can see a vessel and a blob, but it looks very faint compared to the other eggs. The camera does not capture the vessel. I put this egg back in the incubator.

? another early quitter? I did not see vessels in this egg. Unsure if they are dissolving. This egg was put off to the side where I put my questionables after the day 7 candle. I put this back and will check again at day 14.

On my last post with candling pics I had a picture of an egg with a single speck. That single speck is still there, but no other changes - no blob/movement or signs of other vessels. I removed that egg today.

I have 25 eggs remaining - I still have 3 welsummers, 3 mixed breed, and the rest are BCM.
