Not sure about the breeds, But I alway found laying them is better for me. For one it's natural. 2nd I found had them have a hard time getting out of the shell. 3rd had problems when they did hatch them sitting in there shells and getting stuck. I know people do it but I never liked it.
Do you lay them down even if shipped eggs with saddle cells?

Quote: Then they didn't actually come from MPC. Probably Meyer since that's who they seem to do the most drop ships from.

Sick calling off Ughhh

Never heard that before and never had a problem either. I candle everyday from day 3 to lock down. Mostly it's for the 20 mins of cooling time. I've had awesome hatches since I started doing this. In my last 2 hatches I only lost 2 eggs and that was because they were clear. Everything else hatched.

What is your propose to candle everyday?

Quote: It really comes down to personal preference. I prefer cartons because the eggs don't get kicked around by the chicks, but sometimes (like my last hatch) I'll lay them on their sides. I usually do cartons for larger batches since it's easier to turn them by either tilting the bator or attaching a piece of PVC to the bottom of the carton.

Have no experience in shipping eggs. Bought a dozen years ago and none hatched. Wont do it again.

I've never had a problem with shipped eggs, 'cause I won't buy them

If I can't buy them locally, or within driving distance, I'll do without. Too many USPS horror stories for me! That's why I keep a rooster around; no shipping required. Of course I'm only breeding for replacements, not for sale.
