Ya done good, Kid! I assume she's done? Good looking litter. Glad you saved the one; just too bad it was necessary to begin with.

Morning whites! thank you! I know sucks. I sure didnt need the stress of that #$. And husband watching over me like I was GOD and assuming I could create miracles. I thought he was going to cry. Made me just about want to fly to heaven on the spot to be honest. This is the first litter he was really sitting in helping weighin and stuff. I think its best he dont do it again. Cause #% happens and I aint God.

Go sleep!!! Beautiful puppies!!!! I am so happy for you!
SLEEP!!! are you kidding me! Its thanksgiving!!

Good thing there are enough places at the table for them all; wasn't always that way for mine. My 1st one was next to the runt in a litter of 13!
they weighed in at 12.6 to the doa was 9.2 wonder what was up with her, her belly is big and fat. I pray she is fine.
My son wants another from us and two other family members, not keen on family cause the want you to gift them everything lol. but my son is another story.
I already have 4 of the family with them.

How do you think the RIR compares to a new Hampshire... My NH are very sweet and are great egg layers but take an hour to do so if not longer!!! LOL
I've never had NH, but I an say that my RIR were great layers of large brown eggs- laid right through the winter without missing a beat! They are also very very LOUD. They are the gossip girls of the chicken world!

Edit:and I think taking a long time to lay is just an individual chicken thing. We had several girls that would get nice and cosy in their boxes and others that were in&out!
yes RIRs arey very very LOUD. And DO gossip lol i have a news ringer in my rir flick everytime one of the other girl lay and even cluck a litlle of a lat call she will get about there heads and help them out by yelling out and screaming that one has layed an egg its soooo funny and she will not shut up until i go and get the eggs lol my son has named her screaming meme.

DOA

You see the snuggle bum liver white on the right? this was a breech DOA no placenta or sac with it.
Misty couldn't revive on her own, my husband was freaking out and grabbed it and asked me
if I am in shock or what. I think I was actually. He handed it to me, I took it, cleared its air ways and nostrils, I got nothing,
not a movement, kept trying and trying and rubbing and doing pup cpr and I finally got that
big open mouth. I kept that little sweetheart with me for an hour and every time she quit I
started over again, and I finally got her to the point of steady breathing and she got a good
suckle on my finger, you see whites, all she needed was good loving hand to help her
enter this world. This was the first time I had one like this. I dont want another. The umbilical issues
suck, but this sucked worse. I was thinking about how easy it would be, to be at work and
not be here and not have the stress of this and let things go naturally.
Glad I took my path, cause I love my puppies!!!
and love the happiness and joy they give to the families I send them to!

Oh wow... that's awesome, Sally! Sorry about the one that didn't make it. The CPR story was amazing, and that puppy has a lot to be thankful for this day! This will be a Thanksgiving day that you'll remember from now on! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some rirs are mean my ate sweet my roos ate so sweet that both are in the same breeding pen and neither is fighting and both are breeding but my pen is large and the older roo at 9 months might feel hi needs a little help as there are 20 hens lol but he is also very gentile in breeding his younger brother is a little more aggressive in breeding has to be do it and run at 6 months old the hens are still chasing him afterward they dont really fully accept him. But my hubby days big brother needed a little help LOL!
