No not a clue. I don't put the bantams and the LF hens together in the same coop for this very reason. I don't know if she pecked him through the wire (probably did). They were completely fine last night. That RIR might meet the freezer soon...if she keeps this up.
Wow, I have RIRs, and they are VERY mellow. My Delawares are the most aggressive, but they don't attack the others that badly. There is no roo in their pen, so not sure what they would do to him if there was.

Production Reds are very aggressive. Thats why I like the Heritage Reds. Very genital.
I bought these RIR's from several different locations. One is almost 7, the others just over a year. How could I tell if they are production or heritage?

I dated a girl whose folks owned land in Spotsylvania Co. I could've bought all the land I wanted for $50/acre, but was to young to buy it in my own name and was mad at Dad & wouldn't tell him about it. Should've bought it.
I feel the same way about Mammoth! Property was SO cheap when I lived there. Way out of range for me now, for just a vacation home.

The other Cockeral died. I am kinda relived because there was nothing I could do for him except keep him comfortable.

Someone...Dax, I think...wanted to know how your injured bird is.

@daxigait
The golden male quail is doing remarkably well. I really can't believe he's still here.
He had lost a lot of blood but with just Bacitracin he healed up good and quick.
Whether fertility has been hampered is yet to be seen.i have a batch in the bator right now so well see.
:hugs

Apparently, I shouldn't say a lot of things. Sometimes things just need said though.
This is true and usually gets me in trouble.

If you want to try to save him, bring him inside where it's warm... 80-85 degrees is ideal for most birds that are ill or in shock.

I am bringing them in now. Luckily it is pretty warm outside

Good. Do not try to force feed or force water him until he is warmed up. If he were mine, I would place him in a box on towels with a heating pad set to low under the towels. Heat is key in saving the critically I'll and those in shock.
