Hey Local if your still here...get some sleep....don't work too hard.
Which Indians, & what is Metis? This is the French/Metis one, it has been going on to celebrate the native/French/Metis cultures that originally settled this area for almost fifty years.
Lots of traditional foods, bannock, beaver tails, maple snow taffy, split pea soup, and tourtière (a French meat pie)
They have a permanent fort circa 1840, and have all the traditional activities - fur trading, black smithing, wool making, fur processing, and of course fire water.
They have people dressed in period costume roaming the whole site. They provide live traditional music from 10 am to midnight, and all sorts of activities for the kids.
Toboggan slides, snow sculptures, dog sled racing, ice climbing, and this year they held canoe races on the river.
The canoe races were fun, but tiring. Four children in the canoe, four adults pushing it along the ice, we never made it out of the initial race. Three adults and me pushing the canoe, I was more like an anchor hoping along on one leg.![]()
rooting for you!So excited set my first hatch yesterday! I've checked the incubator every hour... hahaha
