I hate those feeders, I swear I make more a mess tryin to open them than not! I switched to hanging feeders on chains with milk jugs cut off over top to keep the tards out of them!
They're just temporary "starter" feed and water trays. Once they're a little bigger and I remove the partition, they'll graduate up to these:

Just staying one step ahead... lol!!!

That is a neat little thing. How many chicks will it hold? And can you make me one? Haha I brooded in a kiddie pool with the little yellow and white plastic partition things.

Tonight's lockdown for my Silkie eggs! 6 out of 7 doing great! The 7th was pulled awhile ago and showed no development. Can't wait to see what colors I get! :D

We have had lots of rain and then on Thursday night it changed over to ice. Today it got just above freezing and made a mess of everything. Looks like we got another round of ice tonight/tomorrow morning. Ughhhhh. Good for our crops but sucks balls for anything else. One of my cummins is hooked to a gooseneck with hay on it in the pasture, it's gonna have to freeze hard to be able to get it outta there. Pool cover pump has ran almost non stop today. Here's the view out of our master bathroom. Yes i own it all, even the 1/2 section on the other side of the crick.

you just gave me a sad moment lol..... missing my old house I forgot what its like to be out in the open fields. I am so used to being in the mnt now.

uggghhhh zillow still has the images up too

It's 16 square feet without the center partition, and I was told it would hold approximately 66 large fowl chicks up to 8 weeks. I haven't done the math, so I can't say for certain. It'll hold more than I'll have in it for quite some time. If not, it's an easy expansion. It took all of two days (off and on in my spare time) to build it, and I can build you one if you like. The cost of materials isn't that bad, but I must warn you... the shipping is going to be a major buzz kill!!!

PS: I have a kiddie pool just behind the brooder... lol!!!

I candled all of them last week and marked sacs. I was planning on candling all of them tonight but wanted to check a few today to be sure if I needed to do any adjustment to the humidity. I checked 2 I could see growth in and two I as unsure if they were growing to see the difference in air sacs from last week

I candled all the eggs of the 31, all the Road Islands weren't developing. I did open them up. 3 had been fertile by the bullseye, 1 had the dark eye spot but didn't grow from there and 1 double yolk.

@sally sunshine here are the remainder of fertile eggs and their cells as of day 14.

This is what I was meaning by different. I wasn't sure if it was common with shipped eggs.
