They're just temporary "starter" feed and water trays. Once they're a little bigger and I remove the partition, they'll graduate up to these: Just staying one step ahead... lol!!!
Make sure you pick up some bricks. I raise my feeder and waterer up on pavers or half bricks as soon as they start kicking the shavings around so you don't have to clean them out as often.

I actually have a second seven month old Lavender too who is mainly for the two Lavender Orpingtons that are not of age yet. He doesn't do much breeding though, because my 7 month old buff/EE supposed to be a pullet is very dominant. There will be a couple more pullets in the spring. Why?
Just clarification. And I was hoping others would jump in with experience about a young one with that many girls. I figure being young, he can cover them no problem. Saw the ones you cracked open, guess he's doing fine ;)
:weee are you gonna paint some flyin ponies in it soon? :lau we can call it the "Herculoponybrooder" seriously though :thumbsup I hate those feeders, I swear I make more a mess tryin to open them than not! I switched to hanging feeders on chains with milk jugs cut off over top to keep the tards out of them! me too bubbles!!! :hugs
I use one of those tray feeders to start too, because they seem to fight over position less with it. I found the easiest way to fill it is with one of those square feed scoops, I hold the feeder over the feed can and use the square scoop to pour through the holes without taking the halves apart! Prior to finding that scooper, I cut a plastic soda bottle in half and funneled the feed into the holes!
well I guess I'll give up huges net don't work well in the rain If this one get through it will surprise me . need to cook dinner anyway . Hi Ms Sally WV and all you other Folks I'll be back later if allowed . stupid huges net :barnie
K, I wish I could give you better internet. :hugs

well here are three from yesterday. I know two and probably all three are fertile. Right?
All fertile.

Hey. Guys I'm new to the group and new to raising chickens, I've successfully hatched about 20 or so chicks, I have a styrofoam incubator with turner from tractor supply, it holds about 42 eggs, I keep the temp at 99 and keep a close eye on it , my problem is I'm having only about 7-12 birds hatch successfully, And then i break the rest of the eggs when all said and done and like 30 have well developed chicks in them that never came out, and I don't understand why???????? Is it. Because I leave them sitting in my egg turner during hatching ? I unplug it 3 days befor hatching any help would be appreciated
Do you have a fan? With fan, your temp needs to be 99.5. I like to run 100 with a fan. Without a fan, I think your target temp is 101. Double check those numbers in: Hatching eggs 101 in the learning center. Are you keeping your humidity in the 30's days 1 - 18, and increasing to 65% or so during lock down? Have you calibrated your thermometer and hygrometer? If I had to guess, your hatch will be better if you increase your temp, monitor your air cells, and use low humidity until lock down.

Are you using heat lamp, or heating pad for brooding? Check this out: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/yes-you-certainly-can-brood-chicks-outdoors

Will eggs from yesterday be OK that are unwashed on the counter, but were on there sides not on point if I put them so now?
absolutely

Tonight's lockdown for my Silkie eggs! 6 out of 7 doing great! The 7th was pulled awhile ago and showed no development. Can't wait to see what colors I get!

Good luck! I am marking my eggs and getting them set where I want them for hatch, then get that humidity up to where I want it tomorrow. We will be hatching at the same time. Nice Marans eggs, and OE's one HUGE blue egg, two more smaller blue eggs, a couple of RSL's, and a couple of SG's. Hope I get a SG. :) I have one little SG egg that has 4 or 5 days longer, going into another bator by itself tonight, the other two quit around day 10. They were doins so well.

Do you have any of Sarah's eggs in there right now or all they all Lisa's? Can't wait to see what you get, especially with those Marans! If you get a splash, I'm going to have to give them another go! ;)
