@Mirajane
Did you get the eggs from ebay? If so, what seller? I nearly got scammed by "bobfarm" before I was warned by another member tht he sells half bred ayam cemani. Just making sure... :D

your nuts!!! 200 bucks you could make three cabinet coolers almost!!! oh no nuts just saying when you kbow how to do a cooler!! oh ha ha ha you be fine!
But do they turn on thier own? King won't reveal his to me so I can't be here to turn them :hugs
I am sure you can rig a turner Jack! seriously you have access to all those little motors and stuffs!!!
It's been 15 days since I last was on... Hello Everyone! It's my Moms Birthday today, and she's having a lot of fun with the chickens today. I discovered Ayam Cemani Chickens, and she somehow ordered some eggs on eBay for me to hatch for her. I guess in a couple days I'll have eggs in the Incubator again! I just sold the last of my chicks yesterday, and I took one chick from my New Years hatch back from the person I sold it to. It's a mixed breed too. They think it's a Roo, I'm not sure. Here are the pics of it-
Hey chicky!!!! yep roo!! AWESOME! cant wait to see your hatch !!!
I don't think my fan is strong enough.
areyou sure its not the power pack??? I just said earlier my plug didnt sent enough power.
I guess I'm going to start using a wet bulb thermometer in my incubators. There are a bunch of people in a Facebook group that claim that Seramas are super easy to hatch as long as you don't let your humidity drop below 60% (wet bulb). They claim that their method works anywhere in the world. I'm not sure that I buy it since my eggtopsies appear to show that my humidity was too high with a max reading of 38% on my Brinsea. At this point, I'm not sure that I have much to lose though since my Serama hatches have been horrible anyways. I wonder if they'll replace my eggs if I prove their method wrong (it's nice to dream). :gig Do any of y'all have any experience using higher wet bulb readings in a relatively humid climate? I live in Alabama, and I've always had much better hatches at lower humidity levels, but Serama eggs don't seem to want to hatch well no matter what I do. [@=/u/162672/Sally-Sunshine]@Sally Sunshine[/@] do you have any thoughts on this?
I dont have one, I use cheapos I run 55 entire and then up it. serama are one of our breeds and I hatched and shipped many of them already. but I do suggest a wet bulb if you want to spend the cash!!! I just never got one because I never had issues
Ok, I skimmed that part earlier but must have misunderstood it.

Hi, this is my first time hatching and I'm very nervous. I'm on day 21 and I have 6 partridge wyanndottes in my RCOM 10 pro. I have 2 pips so far, the first one over 16 hours ago. It is cheeping but doesn't seem to be making any progress. Is it okay or does it need helping out?

HELP
This one just hatched but.....

What do I do?
I would have Pinched it off with my nail, something dull to close the veins off. Seeing how it wasnt yolk and the umbilical is closing I would have done the following....
Its only the umbilical stings and stuff. THAT got out without any help? that is not normal, never pick the pips!! They can bleed out like that. but if its pinched off it typically wont bleed out, if it does pressure with a clean papertowel or cornstarch will work in a pinch. But again most times blunt closing of veins stops any bleads. I would have put veterycin on the umbilical and put it in a cup clean until navel closed away from other chicks. I seen another egg on your first picture that looked like a picked pip, never do that, your doing them no good.
remember the timeframes Chicks have a process they have to go through, a very detailed intriguing process and they dont start spinning in that shell until they all processes are ready. we can rush the hatch too much and this happens, most times its alot worse than that. There are other reasons we can discuss later on, if you have more of them, but I pray you wont!

Sally, you asked how old of chicks go under a broody...I usually put new ones in. I still have some of Bubbas' in the bator. In fact, they are in lock down. She can have a couple of those. :p
ok so just after hatch?

Quote: If you decide to leave in out of the shell, make sure that it's on a very clean towel. That umbilicus is wide open, so it's a perfect place for bacteria to enter, and most incubators and hatchers have mesh floors, and that could cause it to bleed out while it's scrambling around.

This is very good ideas!!!

Just got rid of bronchitis, so I'm doing great! Hope you get over it soon!!!

Man, everyone is getting this ick. Had it last month..for three solid weeks. DH still has it, going on his third week. Getting better though. It's tough, glad to hear you are doing better!

I hope I run into how you did that waterer and assume its heated too?

Joey it is so amazingly clean looking back there! I love the backdrop for them very much. Very nicely done.

I do have a question about the openings access in your grow out pens, with the roof angled back, and rain heading that direction, do you have access on the sides?
They are not heated since it'll be above freezing here until next winter... but that won't be a problem. I'll just drop an Farm Innovators C-50 deicer in them when the time comes. I built them using the same technique as my smaller ones. Step-by-step instructions are here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...arn-chat-meet-new-friends/39210#post_16436237

Thank you... I try to keep it neat and tidy. I love the English Ivy, but have to remove it from the trees every couple of years or so or it'll kill them.

I don't have access from the sides. I only have a door in the middle on the front, but will need to add one on each side when I convert it to a 3-stall breeding pen. Either that, or internal doors to the left and right pen. The pen faces North, and since most of the rain comes from the South or South/East, the door works good as is...

It seems like it was a very good winter for the crud. Everyone I know got it at one time or another. Hope hubs gets better soon!!! And thank you!

Yep, I suggested pretty much as Sally suggested. I would feel uncomfortable leaving that chick in that, it's already looking pretty brown. Wouldn't want an infection to start with as weak as the baby is going to be.
You have probably done something by now. What did you do?

Oh... sally... Lost the quote, but I love the white polish!

Fox nearly gave me a heart attack though.

Eggtopsy results:
3 very dead eggs, fluid visible on candle 2/3. They have been dead for a while.... One looks infertile, the other looks like degraded embryos. Nothing that looks remotely like a chicken in there. *phew*

End result: 0 hatched, 11 infertile and 4 duds.

Yes Sally, after they hatch and are dry. It's still a bit chilly out there. Although, we are warming up!
