Easter Leggers and Olive Leggers!
Well, actually, my plans are for turkeys, and I'm going to throw some chickens in to teach the poults how to eat. I have a Cream Legbar rooster and various hens. So I'm picking the prettiest blue egg I get and the darkest brown egg that I get. Pretty sure those come from an Easter Egger and a Black Langshan. So the results may be um, interesting.
As long as he satisfied me otherwise, I'd let him be, out of curiosity, to see if he passes those feet on.It's possible. We shall see if he makes the cut or gets cutI currently have 4 boys in that group and only 2 (3 at most) will make the cut.![]()
I'm not going to as it doesn't seem to affect him.
Yeah, she likes him just fine, fortunately. Of course anything would have been an improvement over what we had. Her first comment when she saw him was "WOW, he's big!!" She's since commented on how pretty he is. Too much of that might give him a big headNow he's got all the girls crowding around my feet looking for treats. I was even able to pick on up the other day for the first time. I had to corner them all & catch them with a long-handled landing net to move them to the new coop when I finished it. I'm anxious to see what difference he makes in the egg color once his genes take over.

How long you figure I should wait 'til I let him out to free range with the rest? I let the other one out with the girls from the beginning after a couple days last Spring, but he was accustomed to them already. I'm hoping Tucker will want to be wherever the girls are by now. I hate to keep them cooped up in the run if I don't have to; it's pretty wet right now with all the snow melt & rain recently.
As long as he satisfied me otherwise, I'd let him be, out of curiosity, to see if he passes those feet on.
Good morning Sally!
You do realize that broken eggs don't hatch, right? So don't throw the eggs you want to hatch.Argh, my 1202 is giving me griefI think it must have a loose wire. Last night, the temp dropped to 75. We caught it early and a smack on the side got it hearing up again no problem. It was fine at 10 last night when we went to bed. Got up at 6 and it was down to 69! Another smack got it going again. I love this bator but at the same time, it's killing me! The eggs were cold this morning so it's taking forever to get back up to temp. I just how I didn't lose many
the thing is half full and I have a bunch of eggs coming this week to throw in it.![]()
There are two cases like that being sold for about $250 near me. Tempting, but I don't feel bright enough to make an incubator.Hi all, I figured I should just jump in to an incubating thread, since I'm planning to buy an incubator soon, and hatch out some chicks and poults. Take a look at this- someone is giving it away free on the Indianapolis Craigslist. Now wouldn't that make an awesome cooler-bator?!
