Quote: My shipped eggs were wrapped in a lot of paper towels and in paper cartons. Air cells were very large when I started - larger than they should have been just from being old. I had to bump my humidity at 14 days to keep them from getting too big. I bet the packaging materials were the reason...

I'm still going to call it a refrigerbator, no matter how many times you and whites call it a reeferbator...

When completed, it'll hold 68 eggs...

Even wrapped in bubble wrap, the gauze and cardboard cartons would have wicked some moisture out of the eggs. I like Sally's style of wrapping and sealing every individual egg in bubble wrap to seal in moisture. You'll need to run RH a little high to compensate for what's been lost. How fresh are the eggs?

Itsa a ReeferBator, Sorry.

will do but gonna need some help with that. I have been reading about marking the air cells but havent done it before. I have been using a dry hatch method on my own eggs which has worked but dont think it will go to well for these.

Also what do yall think the possibility of holding these till the Easter HAL are. The room I have them stays around 50-70% RH. And I have them in a styro carton now.
Not a problem. It's easier that you think, but we'll be here to help.

That's good humidity for storage. What's the temp?

I'll even call my own a reeferbator when its done. Although I'm hopeing to double my current capacity from 4 dz to 8 dz. Speaking of packing things the Sally way I have 16 Dominique eggs coming next week that I had them pack it that way.

Sweet!

Do you have pics of your bator?

4 doz aint bad!

high 50's to low 60's. its a garage that was closed in but isn't insulated well at all. Think I would have prefered the garage but it's not where we plan to stay so I will live with it for now.

50F-60F is perfect for storage. Not sure when the Easter HAL begins, but if they're about a week old now, you shouldn't wait more than a couple of days to set them. The chances of hatching goes down pretty rapidly after a week, and it's never a good idea to set them after 10 days. Just thought you should know...

Edit: Don't forget to turn them a couple of times a day while in storage.
