I am setting this article to open edit as an experiment (If this does not work I will lock it again!) since I cannot keep up. PLEASE do not edit if you are not on the incubating thread! Only update your part of the article, and if you mess it up, have questions, or an issue arises, contact me. I would prefer you edit in rich format if at all possible, or notify me and have me edit it if you are worried about messing it up. Thank you and happy hatching!
Read instructions below!!

(First put "Personal", if you would like to share that type of stuff. [Ex. Name, location] Then do incubator type, ["Incubator"] Than eggs currently set, ["Eggs"] then put whatever notes or links to stuff you want bookmarked underneath. Numbers should just be whatever order you add yourself, it makes it easier to just be able to remember your number and scroll to it. Put a link to your profile by that, and than a short note if you want)
Example:
(PLEASE set yours up like this!)

Set my very first 'bator batch 1/30/16 THANK YOU everyone who helped me!
Candled 2\6, two with blood rings and 2 with definite life, all others not visible, but still hopeful! Now down to 13 eggs.
2/19 Day 20 here, 3 eggs left but after I locked down and did more research, 3/3 are dead. (Update- 0\15 hatch) Hatching for the EHAL though, and can't wait to try again!
Starting a mini coolerbator build soon!

Howdy from the lake guys....60 degrees here earlier. Brought the neighbor boys
Out....Mason in the blue is a fellow leukemia survivor.

I just finished a Leukemia fundraiser I set up for our school. The school helped me earn over 4000 dollars, and it was all for my birthday wish. Helping others get through their difficulties is always worth it. It obviously wouldn't be good to have, and I'm sorry you and Mason went through it, but you pushed through and are standing tall today.

Thanks...I was sick twenty years ago...had a bone marrow transplant in 1997.....holding my own.

I found some pretty nice pallets 40x48 inches, for 2 dollars each. I really need to build a coop for my extra Roos, does anyone keep their Roos together? And can they be able to see and hear the hens? Or will seeing the hens make them fight? I'm not really wanting to cull young chicks, rather raise them for meat, but my main flock is free range, and I want to keep the Roos in a run. Hens can go be hens and produce tasty eggs for me

To my understanding, (someone correct me if I am wrong) the fan is not wired into the thermo, it is a seperate circut run by the same power source. Having them on the same cord is pure laziness and for ease of transportation! The wires for the fan and thermo are not twisted together, they are simply run through the same hole. Hope this helps...

thanks, been looking at similar diagrams and think I've got an understanding of how it needs to be wired, was just unclear of extended operating parameters once the unit is running.

The fan should run 24/7 while plugged in
Only the heater runs off the thermostat

Ok, I'm trying to figure this out too. Does the thermometer change the lightbulb temp and regulate it? I don't really get it yet.

The thermoSTAT (thermometer measures temps, not controlls it) is a switch in the current, (think light switch) when it reaches temps you set it for it turns off the lights. When temps go low, the light turns on again, so the lights flicker as they control temps. That is why you gotta have 2 bulbs in there in case 1 blows from constant flickering. Some use a dimmer instead....
