Sally, I can't tag you on my tablet. I hope you see this update. I had 5/5 Pavlovskaya hatch. 1/7 Brabanter hatch. 4 were DIS. I think humidity is the tricky part with Brabanters. I've tried dry incubation twice with poor results.
I got a surprise phone call from my post office. The eggs I thought were being sent out tomorrow arrived at my post office yesterday. Not the right timing for the HAL but I checked them out. They look like typical shipped eggs with a couple wiggly air cells. Probably will find some saddles at next candle. I had already planned on cleaning the incubator last night anyway so I got everything scrubbed and disinfected and set 18 Cream Brabanter eggs this morning.
Things I'm changing this time:
Hand turning until second candle on Day 4ish. I've turned them a quarter turn (tilting in cut down cartons) approx every couple hours since this morning. I'll switch to the auto turner if all is well on second candle.
Humidity at >40% to start incubation. Nothing higher than 50, but not letting it run dry unless air cells are bad. I am hypothesizing that the light colored shells and breed specific needs will mean a slight change needed for incubating temps and humidity and duration. The DIS chicks may have drowned with the jump from dry to lockdown. Luckily the one little girl hatched.
I would love to catch up but I tasted spring today and may have over exerted myself.
Oh! My SIL had a great hatch with her still air incubator so I got 4 fluffy chicks from her to grow up with my 6. Some barnyard mixes with one black silkie!
I need a broody hen or two so I'm willing to raise up some extra chicks.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would really normally read through this stuff instead of ask, but im in a jamb here. I have the brinsea octagon 20 eco with automatic turner. First time hatcher here. I ran it for 2 days prior to getting my eggs. it said 99.5. good to go! It came with a separate temp and humidity gadget to put inside along with the bulb thermometer. Ok! I get my eggs, very important eggs non the less. Get the bator up and running on Friday, it holds the 99.5 mark for 24 hours. I put in the eggs and it plummets to 97. ok, give it awhile to catch back up right? so I did. it went to 98.7 and would not get any higher. I adjusted the temp with the screw and it went up to 100.7. dang it. so I got it to 99.5. cool! then check and it keeps fluctuating. As the thing is turning on the automatic turner the thermometer is changing !!!!!!! what do I do, is this right? HELPPP!!!! I am on day 2. and im crying so hard. I do not want to mess these Sultan eggs up.

You should know better than to think I'd call you anything but BUBBLES. Duck eggs are doing good........as far as I know. 100* & 35%
I have NO idea what you are talking about...

How long was "a while?" 12 hours? I'm assuming you have calibrated the thermos? 100.7 won't kill them, Sally runs 102 EDIT 100-101ish in a circulated air.... (ASK her though, always better to get it from the source.)
The internal temp should be 99.5, so you have a bit of leeway to catch the swings, and eggs are pretty tough...
