That's quite an assortment....Best of luck with them

Thank you. I am building a layer flock for my 3 nieces. I needed to cover different egg colors while keeping the birds distinguishable. Of course, I plan on keeping a few new girls for myself as well

Guess I'll pack it in, too
Whoever's still out there, have a good night, while I go check the back of my eyelids for stress cracks
If the good Lord's willing & the creek don't rise any higher, I'll catch you once the sun's chased the darkness away.

Good night!

I need some fast urgent help! I started with 9 eggs and all have died but one. I think I have killed the one I have left. It is day 24 and I could hear chirping and moving around but no pipping.
So...I read many things and they said with the egg not doing any pipping that I needed to help it along.
So...I put a small hole in the egg and I immediately saw bright red blood so I stopped. I put the egg back in incubator with wet towel.
I can see that it's still breathing but that's all now. No chirping or trying to get out of egg.
I pray that I haven't killed it.
PLEASE someone tell me what I need to do! It's my only chick and this is the first time incubating.
I'm heart broken......
Doing the read back before bed - did anyone help this person? I don't have the knowledge/skills.

@Purplelove until you get other info, I would just leave it in the incubator - if there was a lot of blood it wasn't ready yet - you don't want to rush the hatch, because if you try to get the chick out early, it will likely not survive.

Take a deep breath. What will happen, will happen. You may or may not be able to save this one. If you can't don't give up. Folks on here can help you figure out what may have gone wrong, not only with this chick, but with the others, so that you have a more successful hatch next time.
