Sally! Sally! @Sally Sunshine this is it! Lock down for my duck and goose eggs!! Quote: Emergency!! I turned the goose eggs and there's peeping!! This is it! We're going into labor!! 5 internal pips! I just sent that to my husband. I went to turn the goose eggs one last time because lock down was supposed to be around noon and was greeted with duckie chatter!! Holy poop!! Yes I just candled, marked, and upped humidity a few hours early! :

So you missed it yesterday! The duckies and goosies are in lock down. Had 5 internal pips of my duck eggs yesterday when i went to do a last turn of the goose eggs ( i was going to put them in lockdown around noon, instead put them in LD at 7 am lol). Had 5 external pips when i left for work today! But no duckies yet.... Goose eggs had movement when i candled them for lock down, but no pips as yet

I am loving the new house. I took the week off to move in last week, and then half way thru came down with a stomach bug that took me out for 3 days (1 day of icks, 2 days of feeling weak), so we're WAY behind on moving furniture and unpacking boxes. We got the bedrooms and baths all set up, and a majority of the large furniture moved to the basement that needed to be. But of course, the 2 heaviest items were up for for moving when I got sick so they're still sitting in the garage with about a dozen boxes and a couch :(

On a side/side note! I have the permacoop all set up for the chickies, they're coming home tomorrow!! Then we're using our hoop coop for the ducks and geese! I am so excited for the geese, I got to herd my neighbor's Sebastapols and I think Tolouse mixes back to their property this morning. They almost got creamed by a delivery truck and a school bus because the fog was SO HEAVY this morning...

I got this one:

http://www.thermoworks.com/products/logger/thermadata/thermadata_series2_htd.html#Specifications

It has accuracy of ±0.5°C and ±2% RH (can't get much lower than that without dropping a LOT LOT LOT of money), and I ordered it to be NIST calibrated for both temperature and humidity. I would read about folks who had something like 6 thermometers and not know which ones to trust, and similar issues with hygrometers, so I decided to drop the bucks on this.

Oh, and I'm only building three tractor coops because that's what I need urgently right now for chickens and chicks on hand. I'm building another two or three right after that - they're for growouts, breeding pens, and at least one semi-permanent housing (at least for now). Unoccupied ones will be shade houses for tropical plants. Starting on another giant coop like the earlier one I built for my layers.

Chicken math has consequences... These consequences are painful and require the use of power tools.

Ow.
