"Sounds mixed. If you put a ccl roo over those Leghorns you will get Sapphires. They lay lots of large sky blue eggs! That is what I bought that started my nightmare, but I WANT one!"
Can I ask what ccl stands for,, I WANT blue eggs!
crested cream legbar

Sapphires do not lay eggs as blue as real CCL's. The white leghorns have a bleaching gene that eliminates brown (turns green to blue), but also fades the blue quite a lot. I made "super blue egg layers", the same concept but with Ameraucanas instead of CCL's, and was somewhat disappointed in the egg color. They did lay well though, until they turned broody.

The light blue is not bad looking, just might be disappointing if you are expecting as blue as a real CCL or Ameraucana.

I was eating outside with Duckling (she is loving being outside so much!) and hadn't realized that she still had her fork in hand when she ran after the ducks. I called her back, and she is chasing the ducks, fork raised like a sphere, yelling.

Then she stopped yelling, and began to inspect her fork. I was surprised that the ducks went right up to her to see what she had for them. Don't get me wrong, they are used to toddlers, and Duckling gives everyone scratch. I have just never seen them approach her unless I was standing by her tossing out scratch.

She is now off to see the doctor. She was so happy. She giggled as she was put into the back of the car, and then slipped into the driver's seat. She has been outside playing since she woke. Ha ha! I feel so bad that she has to get a vaccination. She doesn't do well with them. I will see her after her visit with my M-I-L. Then I get to soothe her.
