Alright, quick question here... What is the largest age range in chicks you have housed together? These guys are going to be 1 1/2 weeks older than the chicks hatching... At what point is the gap too big?

Just wondering if I should set up another brooder.....

Is it just me, or do the chicks grow up way too fast? They already have wing feathers! :hit

depends on if you are enjoying fuzz or wanting eggs that take forever ;)

Dear Wh. NOT all the snake are atracted to heat! The pit vipers and some pytons do, but the majority of them are attracted to smell molecules that the pray shade to the air or water and are collected by the forked tong of the snake and are transported to the Jacobson organ in the mouth roof to be identified. And belive me eggs have awonderful aroma that say "FOOD" if you are a snake!

I want you! :D For a teacher.

Very nice. I have three females and a male of Rees lines from OK, and two new cockrels that came from Greenfire farms. What are you doing with yours?

I'll be growing them out and keeping all those that best represent the breed then breeding them :) I have more from someone in Minnesota to add to the mix too if they hatch well. I should have a pretty good gene pool to get going with.

With all silkies at first, each week, I'd add new babies. I did that for 2 months. Then I added 3 full size chicks, and then 2 more silkies a few weeks later. At one point I had about 20 babies 8 weeks from oldest to youngest. Last week I moved ALL the silkies in with the adults. The 3 full size chicks are alone in one of my coops.

I would keep them separate for about 5 days, to let them get stronger, then I put them in to the community brooder. Just keep an eye on them at first to see how the other chickens react to them.

Good luck!!!
