Not with anything short of a long handled landing net, and even that's not a given. If her health is already compromised, would the stress of being run down & netted make her worse?
Can you catch her after she goes to roost?
Or to lay an egg?

Would the air cells even change appreciably before hatch time? Already on day 19.
I think they start showing signs of draw down around day 18 or so, that's why the aircell dips to on side. but I don't think they would change too much if the chick weren't close to hatching.

Quote: Watch her from a distance and see how she is... If she looks pretty normal then netting her is very unlikely to worsen her condition. Instead of netting her, try catching her a night while she's roosting. How comfortable are you with examining her? Can your check her for lice and mites, weigh her, etc. ?

congratulations on your hatch. You can float those left after today if they don't hatch.
You may get an olive type egg though other things happen.
No ideas on the hen maybe a cross? Does she have bearding/ear tuffs?
thank you! yes the hen has tuffs. I floated the 4 eggs. 1 sank and 3 floated at the air cell line. What does this mean??

I have a very important question
I'm sure you do. Were you planning to tell us what it is, or do we have to guess?

Found a good example of what a critically ill bird looks like:

Turkey, chicken, duck, goose, whatever... if it looks like this it's very close to death.

Well our friend who works at Zaventem Airport finally got home. They put him on the crew to clean up the bomb site. I don't know exactly what he saw, but he's been silent since he got home and considering he's a really fun-loving and easygoing guy it worries me.

In regards to chickens, I built half of the fence that will enclose the footpath to the run and the garden, so tomorrow I should have it done and the girls can go and forage.
